Just, ah, checking up on things…No need to be concerned, citizens!
Yeah, I don’t really like it either. How can I be properly jackbooted–well, it’s more the ominously omnipresent surveillance before the jackboots–but anyway, I feel vaguely weird now checking out the profile of some newly registered potential spammer or troll.
I always thought I was totally invisible on these boards, but three people have viewed my profile. Which means three people need to have their eyesight check and stop hitting the wrong username.
Damn. I’d better put something pithy in there now, in case anyone…
…
Bah. Nobody’s going to look there anyway.
ETA: Incidentally, my profile seems to list my email in the clear. And the new board’s going up coincides with that particular email address getting a whole lot more spam.
Oh, weird. Somehow, I’m not so concerned that people will know I was curious about them, but I’m kinda freaked out knowing who’s been checking up on me. Yet I have no problem with that limited amount of info being public - I don’t care that people do check up on me, I just don’t really want to know who or when. I think this is one of those “ignorance is bliss” times…
It’s kinda meaningless. After all there are dozens of reasons for someone to look at your profile. But still… I don’t need to know. Don’t want to either.
There’s visitor messages too. Another forum I’ve recently started posting at has those too. People visiting your profile can leave you messages that can be seen by everyone. I don’t know if you (the profile owner) can set those private or not; I haven’t used them yet.
