You must get a tattoo - what would you choose?

I have to steal your UV idea. This Escher “winged lion” tessellation, but only 3 rows, encircling my forearm. The middle row just a black outline and features, and the outer rows in the UV ink. But are there any tattoo artists who have the skill to do this, assuming I could find someone to draft the pattern?

Alternately some figure from Dali or Bosch. Or maybeHalley’s Comet from the Bayeux Tapestry.

Or perhaps some simple anamorphic thing that could only be recognized from a particular perspective.

Thinking ahead to the possible need for change, you could add an “A” before Tom along with two electrons whirling around the heart.

I already have the only one I’ve ever wanted (or will ever get). It’s a composite of my initials that I’ve been doodling on schoolbooks since I was about seven, and is on my right shoulder. It’s an outline only; I meant to get it filled in later on but the tattoo parlor burned to the ground three days later and I took it as a sign.

Fuck Tattooes! On my butt.

A yin/yang sign on the bump left on my broken wrist bone. I tried to get one done after the cast came off, but the guy said I’d have to wait six months, and it would hurt like hell. So I chickened out.

I promised to get the school name/class year tattooed on myself if they all got fives this year. They didn’t . . .

There are several to choose from. I like the one with the little arrow that says “You Are Here.”

I’ve already posted a choice, but I may change my mind. The last few tattoos I’ve seen have been old enough to be getting a bit fuzzy. So I thought maybe I should take that into consideration and either get a little black rain cloud, or the word fuzzy in fuzzy letters.

I have several tattoos and plans for more. My next will be the caterpillar Absolem from Tim Burton’s remake of Alice in Wonderland.

All my tattoos are hidden under clothing lines, as I work in a professional setting. Thankfully my employers love me and allow me to show my skin on casual days

I might get the words ‘Glove’ and ‘Hat’ written across my knuckles, one on each hand.

A small tattoo of the word “nine” spelled out in Tengwar.

I would get either a small cross (of the style inlaid in Tony Iommi’s guitar fretboard) or a high-wheeler bicycle.

The symbol my wife and I use for us. Buttcheek, where only she would see it.

You’re going to hate me (more) but here is a page that translates Tengwar to English.

I wanted to see what “Nine” would look like and the result came out as “55%`V”.
Hey, that might be a popular house-brand drink on “True Blood”…

I have problems with food, so lately I have been thinking of

Is not life more than food?

down the inside of my forearm to remind me.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matt 6:25

There’s a Vietnamese saying that you might like (my mom is Vietnamese and I’ve struggled with food all my life):

ăn để mà sống, không phải sống để mà ăn

Translation: eat to live, don’t live to eat.

I designed a tattoo years ago that I would use. (would be my first) It’s my name sign in the Theban alphabet, also called the witches alphabet. A name sign is made by basically layering the symbols into a single sign.

I have no tattoos… have dreamed of getting one, just never been real serious about it. Would want it to be of my own choosing, my own design, timing, etc…

In a world where*** I HAD TO HAVE ONE*** I think I would choose “DO NOT RESUSCITATE” over my heart, with an accurate depiction of my signature, if that would make it legal.

The fulll coat of arms for my region (just being jingoistic here and what the heck, my foreparents earned “13 plus the collective one” of those crosses, or maybe it was only “12 plus the collective one”), with the laurel replaced by spines (because damn, do we use politics and religion to screw things up or what). Problem is, it would be offensive to pretty much anybody who recognized it… to the lefties because of having the Cross, to the righties because of the spines.

Somewhere I won’t have to see it, and something I don’t really care if it looks like crap. But if I was to choose something that had some small amount of meaning, maybe it’d be an 8-bit Guybrush Threepwood.

A small Superman logo (as on his chest), someplace not usually visible.
