Twenty-plus years ago, I used to post here a lot. I think I was a Charter Member for a while, until I lost the title. I don’t quite remember why I stopped posting, but I did (for the most part).
Since those days, a lot has happened. Had a few jobs in Big Tech. Was a professional gamer for a while. Moved across the country and back. Loved and lost, and loved and lost, and so on.
Then, a couple years ago, I had a… self-discovery incident. The kind that makes me kinda regret starting my username here with Mr.
I gather that the way to get one’s username changed is to attract the mods’ attention, so I’ll be flagging this post, I guess? Hopefully Ms2001 will stick!
Please send an email with the request to EngineerCompGeek@gmail.com. Make sure that you send the email from the email account that is on your SDMB account.
Just a FYI, you can absolutely add profile information under discourse including preferred pronouns and more about you (that you care to share of course), and even apply for a nifty title that may also include them.
And please forgive us if some of us screw up from time to time. I promise most if not all will only do it out of routine carelessness!
I wasn’t exactly a professional gamer per se: I wasn’t playing in tournaments, I was a full time Twitch streamer and still am, just not full time. But the games were a business expense! And thanks to streaming, I have over 10,000 hours logged in Fortnite, mostly in the original PVE mode.
During most of 2021, I had to find other games to play, because I was working at Epic Games and basically wasn’t allowed to do anything Fortnite-related in public. My main alternatives were SnowRunner, Genshin Impact, and Warframe.
Streaming also meant I had to make an announcement like this in video form. And field lots of questions. And subject my followers to my shambling baby-step attempts to dress myself, speak, etc. But it’s been a great way to practice that stuff.
I remember you. Welcome back! I guess the SDMB is like the Hotel California: you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave. Great to have you with us again!
Not many people realize that Save The World, the PVE mode, is the full, premium version of the game, and Battle Royale is just the free demo. Informing the public about that is a key pillar of my edutainmental mission.
