You steal a camera during MY Workshop? Fuck you, you piece of messed-up shit !

Excuse me, but read the fucking cites, They ALL say that whatever impairment is caused by pot does NOT result in any higher incidents of accidents. Does NOT.

Did I SAY I DROVE when drunk? I said I realized I was impaired when buzzed. Hence, I don’t do dangerous things when so, like driving or operating chainsaws. You how people get drunk and decide dangerous shit is a good idea? I get buzzed and realize that anything more than walking or sitting around is probably a bad idea exactly because of my impairment.

I see I read your post wrong – I thought you said you were being careful while DRIVING, but I was wrong. I appologize.
Dio? What I said stands.

No it doesn’t. It stands refuted by the cites in this thread.

Well, MTCicero said:

To which you replied

I take that to mean that you do not believe that pot affects one’s cognitive abilities and fine and gross motor skills. Jump in if I’ve misunderstood that exchange.

However, in post #206, you assert that

But since the drivers are not accounting for any impairment of cognitive or motor skills, which we now know do not exist (cite), what is making the stoned drivers safer, and why do you agree with it?

They’re being more careful. Any change in cognition is fully compensated for, ergo, no meaningful “impairment” in the actual ability to perform the task.

Folks, I agree that this thread is worth bookmarking. People should refer to it the next time Diogenes lauds his own intelligence. It’s also worth referencing the next time a doper expresses admiration for knowledge and supposed scholarship.

I’d start a thread against Dio, but quite frankly, I don’t feel like searching out all those threads where “his experience = fact”

It’s a tribute to his continued and sophisticated trollery.

You seem to be under the misapprehension that I’m talking about the results of the driving test. I’m not. I’m taking issue with your claim that marijuana does not affect one’s cognitive skills. Are you now saying that marijuana does affect one’s cognition?

Of course it affects one’s cognition; we wouldn’t fucking buy it otherwise!

What we are saying is that it doesn’t affect driving ability in any way that should legislated, if it can’t be proven to be a factor in accidents.

Well, that’s what I’m saying, anyway.

No kidding. I haven’t been to the Dope for a couple of months; come back, click into this – and it’s (a) just as it ever was, (b) got some very funny shit, especially the stuff that was said seriously, and (c) a good reminder why I haven’t been to the Dope for a couple of months.

Oy.

Hi, I’m just checking in to say that every time I think about, “I AM the evidence,” it sends me into fresh gales of giggles. This is the gift that keeps on giving.

In this case, Dio, your amazing ability to shut out everything but what you want to hear *is *the topic.

This is his personal strawman for the thread. He can’t seem to wrap his tiny little mind around the idea that “no increased risk of driving accidents due to smoking pot (because the drivers compensate or just don’t drive)” is *not *the equivalent of “smoking marijuana has no impact on your cognition, motor skills, or reaction time.” So he keeps pointing at *the same study that disproves his point *(i.e., it *explicitly says that pot **does *affect these things) as evidence that he’s right, because he’s just not listening to anyone else, *so *caught up is he in the idea that every post here is some kind of personal attack on him for smoking pot.

You know, as opposed to being an attack on him for being retarded enough to assert that pot “doesn’t” “affect one’s cognitive abilities and fine and gross motor skills.”

Yeah, I was totally high last night and I came up with a new cop buddy show called Jersey Dope.

It would star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Diogenes “The Evidence” the Cynic. The Situation would walk around shirtless giving everyone chlamydia, and the whole show could be action-oriented, because they would never have to go to trial. At the end, Diogenes would just put on his sunglasses and say “I AM The Evidence…”, and the perp would go straight to jail. Then we fade to black and cue the music. But not that song from The Who. I can’t afford the rights to that. Something more appropriate. Calliope music or something.

I’m totally shopping it around.

For the win.

Genius!

Yes, it affects cognition, but that’s not the same as impairing it. Since it does not impair the ability to perform tasks, I don’t see how it can be said to impair cognition. I would argue that it enhances cognition.

You guys sound like you believe everything you saw in those videos that your health teachers showed you in 8th grade. Do you also think that people who smoke pot “freak out” and jump off buildings thinking they can fly? I bet you do.

Anyone who’s actually been a chronic stoner or been around them knows that being stoned has no more effect on their driving ability than a cup of coffee. I’ve even driven on acid. No problems at all except I had to keep reminding myself that I was really driving and I wasn’t in a video game.

OK, now he’s just fucking with us.

:dubious:

Shut the fuck up. Honestly.
For those of you playing along at home…

My prediction is that Dio’s next weasel move will be to quibble over his use of the qualifier “chronic”.
