Yeah, i’d be interested to know if the OP actually saw a security tape with the suspect stealing the camera, or if it’s all supposition and circumstantial evidence.

Being high compromises your mental function. This dude was high. It certainly doesnt seem to be much a stretch to me that a high person might be more likely than a sober/not high person to use the five finger discount if an easy opportunity arose.

No, marijuana does not lower inhibitions the way alcohol does, or make people more likely to steal. That’s complete horseshit.
Personally, I think the biggest smoking gun (aside from surveillance footage, of course) is that the pothead found the camera in a highly improbable place. No one throws away an expensive camera.
Naw. I don’t think getting high in and of itself will make someone otherwise not inclined to steal into a thief. At least, I’ve never (anecdotally) observed this as a side effect of such intoxication.
OTOH - showing up high to an event inappropriately may be a sign that the guy’s an ass, and asses may, arguably, be more inclined to such stuff.

For most of us, stealing an expensive item from a store isn’t “minor stupid shit”. Most of us recognize the moral and legal downside (possible felony depending on value of item).
To be fair, I’d say “marijuana intoxication makes one more likely to steal” is what needs a cite. Fuck if I’ve ever heard of such a thing.

This is anecdotal evidence (like most of the material Diogenes has previously posted in this thread), admittedly, but I have a friend who’s a major league pothead (he’s a professional - well, dinner theatre - actor, as well; I’m not sure if that has any bearing on his potheadedness); I mean, the guy’s so in love with pot, he really should marry it (or at least get a room for the both of them). Anyway, the only thing the guy’s ever stolen, high or not, is music over the internet. The guy’s simply not a thief IRL, and no amount of marijuana (and, trust me, the guy smokes like his life depends on it) has made him suddenly turn into a kleptomaniac.
