Young Frankenstein on Broadway?!

I just heard the tail end of a blurb on the news that the Broadway version of The Producers is closing and will be replaced by Young Frankenstein. So I went a-googling and found this article and this one.

I think I have mixed feelings about this. I loved my YF the way it was but I am curious about a musical version, just please don’t let them actually cast Fallon as Frankenstein. The best part though is it says Cloris Leachman would reprise her role as Frau Blucher

Has anyone seen any other info on this?

This is being talked about on various Broadway sites. The sad news is that the owners to the movie rights want to keep the musical totally separate from it, so Cloris Leachman won’t be reprising her role.

Yuck, I accidently watched the movie version of “The Producers” , if this is anything like that, I’ll stick with the original.

But, I’m glad the material gets a new lease of life so I’ll shut up now.

I’ve never seen the original Producers, but the musical wasn’t too bad. I liked it.

In any case, Young Frankenstein as a musical confounds me. I’d really have to see what it’s like to experience it.

The new version was better on Broadway than as a movie, although the ‘real’ movie is still the best. Brooks does Broadway well, I think, but the idea of Fallon playing Gene Wilder’s part makes me want to projectile vomit (whoever Brian D’Arcy James is, I hope he gets it) and it’s a shame if they won’t use Chloris Leachmann.
