I have just this morning read a review of Rik Mayall’s autobiography “Bigger Than Hitler Better Than Christ” [apparently punctuation in the title] (HaperCollins, £18.99; pp328). It sounds pretty awful. In it, Mayall claims to have been “clinically dead” for 5 days after his quad-bike accident: the reviewer notes that one J. Christ of Judaea was “only out for three”.

Mayall and Ben Elton both attended Manchester University at exactly the same time as my brother (1975-1978). FACT!

Nah. Pat Boone never did Rock’n’Roll. Cliff doesn’t do cardies. Did Pat ever wear a satin blouson jacket and roller skate? I think not. Cliff tried to be trendy and down with the kids, but always appealed more to the older folk.
