Your Age When You Joined the SDMB

This poll is based off a recent thread which I cannot find. The OP was asking the question “Why don’t young people come to this board?” which made me think “I came to this board when I was young…I just happen to be old now.”

Anyway, I’m interested to see how many “young people” do sign up and stay, or how old we are when we join.

My apologies to previous pollsters who may have already done this poll.

I was 37.

40

I was 14. Now I am 15

I was 51, and I’m now 59.

43, now 50.

Ten years younger than I am now.

I had just turned 39 now 48.

32, now 42.

I guessed 39-42. Not my age when I joined but when I started lurking. It took me a long time to make up my mind.

If you’re old, I’m screwed.

Anyway, I’m a 99er, so that would make me 29 when I came here. Odd, I thought it was longer ago than that. Fookin’ 14 years on one board.

Which SDMB are you talking about? I started using AOL when it went to non-metered rates, and the reason I wanted to be on AOL was because I knew that Cecil was on it. It was one of the first areas that I explored.

If you’re talking about this version of the SDMB, I’m user #2, and I would have been 41 when it started.

Just about half your life.

I would consider the latter to be an evolution of the former. So go ahead and vote for the age you were when you joined the AOL group.

It’s been 10 years to the month since I joined. Heh.

OK, then that would have been 1996 or 1997. I would have been 40.

You might want to recheck your math there.

32/46 for me. Just about a third of my life.

Here from age 24-27, returned at age 31. (I’ll be 35 in 3 weeks)

Sorry, I meant Athena. But I meant she’s now posted half as long as she’d been alive when she joined. Only I was lazy.
