Your co-worker hits huge lottery, but doesn't quit. How do you feel?

Winning the lottery for me would just mean I don’t have to worry about money any more. I wouldn’t really change my life - I like my life the way it is.

I’d pay off my debts, and then slap the rest into some reasonably safe and conservative investment and then go on about my life. I might possibly take a different job, but I rather like my job at the moment. And I’m miserable when I don’t have a job - I like being productive. As entertaining as spending days on the couch wearing PJs and eating Cheetos while watching bad TV - or playing endless hours of games on my computer - might be for a vacation, it doesn’t satisfy me as a lifestyle.

I’d probably buy a few things - but those things would tend to be more along the lines of “remodel the kitchen” than “purchase new neo-mansion or expensive sports car”.

My lifestyle is low-key and that’s how I like it. If I didn’t like it that way, I’m bright enough not to rely on winning the lottery to change it.

I’m a teacher because I like it, not because I need to. Hitting a big lottery would give me a greater number of vacation options, but I would continue to teach until I got tired of it. I would like to follow the example of a friend of mine in our district, who won $27 million in the lottery.
