I know it’s hard! But give it a try.

Plate 'o Shrimp

For favorite I would have to go with Harry Dean. I don’t know if that is the same as the best.

Please explain. Being unfamiliar with the expression, I had to try to find what it means online. The hits I could find didn’t help.

It’s interesting that even though all these people had multiple mentions in the preliminary thread(s) that only these have gotten more than one vote here.

==================================
Harry Dean Stanton 3 21.43%
David Strathairn 3 21.43%
JT Walsh 2 14.29%

Voters: 14. You have already voted on this poll

I realize it’s early but it’s still a surprise. If we are to carry the high-vote-getters on to subsequent vote-offs, this could be a problem.

A lot o’ people don’t realize what’s really going on. They view life as a bunch o’ unconnected incidents ‘n things. They don’t realize that there’s this, like, lattice o’ coincidence that lays on top o’ everything. Give you an example, show you what I mean: suppose you’re thinkin’ about a plate o’ shrimp. Suddenly someone’ll say, like, “plate,” or “shrimp,” or “plate o’ shrimp” out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin’ for one, either. It’s all part of a cosmic unconsciousness.

Believe it or not, I understood that part. I’m just missing how that is at work in this thread. Color me disconnected from the Universe, I guess.

Yeah, I’m not reading that OP, but I’ll vote.

I assume it is acknowledging Harry Dean Stanton as a charade actor since he starred in Repo Man. Or since Tracey Walter actually said the line maybe It was a complaint you missed one.

Thanks much! I detest being ignorant of such things. I did see a reference to Repo Man in my search but failed to process it.

I’m going to start a discussion (only) thread on all this Character Actor to-do to see what’s been missed and what needs adding.

I’m a bit amazed that…

Chris Cooper (4) Chris Cooper - IMDb

…(one of those votes was mine!) has yet to get a vote in this poll.

Margaret Hamilton is less of a surprise, but still.

I voted for Ciarán Hinds - never saw him bad in anything, from Excalibur to The Sum of All Fears to Munich to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - but I wish I’d been able to vote for M. Emmet Walsh, dammit.

I feel the same way about several others. The limitations on number of votes was to try to narrow down the list. I see now that that was short-sighted so I’m thinking of more in the way of multiple-choice poll or polls. There’s just too many names to do that neatly.

Suggestions welcomed!

No, no, you’re doing fine. There would always be someone very worthy left off the list. You’ve got to pare it down somehow.
