Well, when my favorite coffee is mentioned on the first reply to the OP, you know it’s good.
Right?
:dubious:

Tim Hortons, of course.
t
First best: fair-trade from the architecture café at McGill.
Second best: double-double from Tim’s.
Third best (recently discovered): Aromatisé or bombe viennoise from Kilo in the Village.
Blue Mountain every time.
Unless I’m in a hurry, in which case it’s Nescafe Original.
Am I right in thinking instant is beyond the pale in the US?
BJ’s (another Costco like chain) sells Millstone Columbian which is also really good, and IIRC about $9 for 2 lbs.
On the road I go out of my way for Dunkin Donuts.
Either way it’s w/ no sugar and extra cream. At home sometimes I use heavy cream, but won’t go any lower then 1/2 and 1/2.
When Tim Horton’s invaded Michigan (we gave no resistance) I was very happy.
Now, all I would like is a Tim Horton’s on a specific corner here in Hooterville. Everyone I know that I’ve mentioned this too has thought " What a great idea." Everyone loves Tim Horton’s.
Their coffee is …I don’t know what they do to it, but it sure is good & smooth.
In other Coffee News:
Two years ago, during the Secret Santa Exchange, I received a bag of Free Trade Coffee that totally changed how I buy coffee. Not only is it good, the coffee it is guilt free. Can’t get that with a pair of Nikes.
EJ I’ve bookmarked your friends site for future coffee references. I’d rather help out a mom and pop place any day than a Global Conglomerate.
I just noticed your friends at Lion’s Gate have chocolate covered coffee beans…oh.dear.Og…I loves chocolate covered coffee beans…who doesn’t?
::::droool::::::::::::::::
Whittards even do different flavours of chocolate covered coffee beans. I used them to make chocolate covered espresso bean cookies once…
Damned right! I will definitely bookmark the site, show it to hubby, discreetly mention Christmas (well, not too discreetly; he doesn’t understand anything more subtle than an anvil), lather, rinse, repeat, until some Kona shows up under the tree.
Heh. Just order it for yourself and have it sent to his work place with your name on it, wrapped for Xmas. Maybe he will get the hint.
Nah. It’s more fun to hammer him about it the way that I do. In the past, I’ve told him what I want, sent him emails about what I want, sent his boss emails (don’t worry, he has a very good relationship with her, and they both think it’s funny), etc. etc. It’s kind of a tradition by now.
My favorite is actually from a tiny little coffeeshop in Olympia, Washington, that has two roasting facilities: one in Olympia, and one in Atlanta, GA.
Batdorf and Bronson coffee is simply sublime, in my experience. A cup of their Sulawesi has the richness of wine, of dark chocolate. They’re fantastic.
I order a few pounds from them about once a year, and snarf it down all too quickly.

Aloha from Kona Coffee Country!
Thanks for the testimonial EJsGirl. I’ll have to put you on our PR payroll. The pay is beans though
I appreciate all of you who dropped by our site. As thanks, I wanted to offer all the Straight Dopers a discount on any Lions Gate Kona coffee or mac nut order. Just put “10% coupon” in the comments section of the order form and I’ll take it off your total, excluding shipping.

Hey, that’s great! And what an excellent opportunity to bring up to hubby again that 100% Kona coffee makes a great Christmas gift!
Hey Suzanne, if you’re still lurking, it’s Debbie (see my location).
You rock! Tell your mom & dad Happy Thanksgiving for us!
