A-fucking-men. I love pretty much everything Chili Peppers. That’s one of my favorites. Others would be “Suck My Kiss”, “Catholic School Girls Rule”, “Fight Like a Brave”.
I’d also like to add their “Show Me Your Soul” and “Around the World”.
I also like Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and DeLite’s “Groove is in the Heart”.
a new day and a new vote
‘Funky’ by the Chambers Brothers will bring down the house.
I am no musician or musical scholar/theorist, but there’s a rhythmic difference between an “emphasis on the one” song à la Stephen Foster’s Camptown Races, and a heavy (and syncopated) emphasis on the one.
Does that mean one could “funkify” a song like Camptown Races? Hmm. Thought experiment time…
Or maybe I’m overthinking this.
You can funkify damn near anything. I have a Lyn Collin’s version of “Fly Me To The Moon” that’s incredibly funky.
Citey-Linkey?
Hurray! Aint nothing wrong with that
More Robert Randolph Live at the Wetlands- get it.
I think the Heads’ funkiest songs are Girlfriend is Better and Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On), but neither has a real music video that I know of. Although everybody should see Stop Making Sense at least once.
Superstition is untoppable as far as I’m concerned, but there are a bunch of other great picks in this thread.
