The topic is favorite, not most frightening.
Envy me, tonight and tomorrow. I’m gonna get my Godzilla AND my Gamera fix at this film festival.
Woo-hoo!! After the movie they were having prize drawings and I won a poster for the new Godzilla film! Yay! And my friend, who was sitting next to me, won a DVD set of the first eleven Gamera films. That collection lacks only the one I have on DVD, 2007’s Gamera the Brave.
A little model company named Monarch has just brought out a new kit of Gorgo (well, actually, Gorgo’s mother–but I guess they thought they’d have trouble selling a kit called “Gorgo’s Mom” ). The fit is nice, and the price is reasonable–available at your local hobby shop!
I hate you. I hate you with the fire of a thousand burning Tokyos. You will learn to fear the fury of my wrath! If you were my cat I’d trade you for a goldfish and flush it.
Tojo.
I’m bumping my old thread to say I’m looking forward to the next Godzilla film festival here in NE Kansas. If you love kaiju I can PM you the details.
I still love Gamera, and my favorite Gamera film will be shown. Also the incredibly cheesy* King Kong vs Godzilla*, amongst others.
My Death Pool list this year is all actors and actresses that have appeared in kaiju films, or, in two cases, inside the monster suits. Some of them had fine careers outside of those movies.
The Japanese have monsters?
I can see the appeal of the others mentioned here, but you just can’t beat the original! Go, go, go, go-go-go Godzilla!
Raymond Burr.
Monsters!! Monsters from the Id!! (sorry couldn’t resist)
But yeah, Godzilla in all his manifest forms (save the US-directed one, which wouldn’t have been a half-bad monster movie by some other name) is the best.
Sure, and to fight them, we’ll create monsters of our own!
I never got to see Godzilla vs. Biollante. I may still have the old VHS tape that had a couple of Japanese adverts immediately before the main (anime) feature, including that one and also one for a Mobile Suit Gundam feature.
When I was a kid, I couldn’t get enough of the old kaiju movies. That’s what made Pacific Rim such a magical experience for me. It was like Guillermo del Toro had been waiting all that time to make the movie I had always wanted to see; he just needed the cinematic technology to become sufficiently advanced to do so (I’ve heard a similar story about James Cameron and Avatar …).
I enjoyed the anime Super Atragon… looks like I need to check out Final Wars.
Godzilla.
As a matter of fact, Godzilla goes well with music! First play clip one… and then immediately play clip two…
Clip 1
Godzilla is my favorite, with Gamera coming in second.
