one of my favorite things to do after I see a movie is run to IMDB and check the trivia. What are some of your favorites? I’ll start it off:
That was one of my favorite movie scenese of all time, and that Hauer improvised it is very impressive.

I’ve won trivia nights with the answer to “What was the first video shown on MTV?”
Granted, that was against a bunch of current college kids, who probably have never seen any videos on MTV.
What was the first video played on MTV2?
“Where It’s At,” by Beck.
Me too. When other teams get pissed, I put the blame on VCR.
One I really like that people don’t normally realize is that the Irish girlfriend from Caddyshack was also Mayor Depasto’s daughter from Animal House. And Lacy Underalls from Caddyshack was Yori in Tron.
Yes, I do this. As soon as I’ve watched a movie, I go to imdb.com and read trivia.
My most recent foray was after I watched Mrs. Miniver a few nights ago. This movie featured Greer Garson in an oscar-winning (and deservedly so) role about a middle-class British woman and her family and how they’re coping with WWII. A young actor played her son, and imdb trivia delivered the tidbit that the much older GG married this young (and rather smarmy) actor after the movie.
Now she was one gorgeous cougar!
Video Killed the Radio Star?
Oops.
I used this in an earlier trivia thread, but it fits right in here: Tim Matheson, forever known as “Otter” in Animal House, did the voicework for Jonny Quest.
Post #1 – What was the first video shown on MTV?
Video Killed the Radio star

Where It’s At
TV, not movies, but Shari Lewis wrote a Star Trek episode.
Am I the only one that actually watched MTV2 come on the air with “Where it’s at” by Beck? I remember it clearly, thinking, “Finally! A MTV that will focus on music exclusively.”
How wrong I was.
I didn’t even know this was “trivia”
Blarg. Post #4, 7, 8…
Some Fahrenheit 451 trivia that I found fascinating:
Yeah, I’m a book geek/anti censorship freak. Why do you ask?
Harlan Ellison wrote an episode of The Flying Nun.
And Joseph (Catch 22) Heller wrote an episode of McHale’s Navy.
And Roger Ebert wrote the screenplays for three Russ Meyer epics – Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Up, and Beneath the Valley of the UltraVixens. And could still complain about other movies.
I recently saw a Quantum Leap rerun where a pharmacist was shot to death for refusing to continue to supply illegal prescription drugs to Hollywood’s upper crust.
That pharmacist’s name was Phil Hartman.
They also had a Christmas show about a Scrooge type guy who commits suicide in the future (until Sam "puts right what once went wrong). He was played by Charles Rocket  .
I wonder if the Quantum Leap writers did leap into the future and read a book on Saturday Night Live.
The name of the journalist played by Raymond Burr in the Americanized version of Godzilla was Steve Martin.
Well, excuuuuuuuse Me!
In the movie Big Trouble in Little China, Chinese characters often have humorous meanings, for example:
The movie Chinatown has a ton of interesting trivia associated with it:
In “The Hospital,” Barnard Hughes plays a pivotal role in the plot.
In some puzzling casting that has never been explained, he also plays a completely unrelated part.
Before he makes his appearance as Diana Rigg’s dad, he can be seen as hysterectomy surgeon Dr. Mallory, wearing a hairpiece and fake mustache.
One of Renee Zellweger’s first movie appearances was in the movie “Dazed and Confused.” She appears in at least three scenes: one in the first five minutes sitting in the back of a blue truck, another in a hazing scene, where she’s squirting ketchup or mustard on a freshman, and, late in the movie, pouring beer into a siphon for another girl.
Loathe though I am to contradict you on this, a search of IMDb’s “Episodes Cast” lists for Quantum Leap turns up no episode wth Phil Hartman as either a charater name or a performer. There are lots of Phils and Phillips scattered throughout and an episode (“At What Price Gloria”) with a character named Ted Hartman, though.
TV Guide episode guide says it’s “Phil Hartman.” And I know what I heard.
