Your favorite recurring jokes from TV shows

“Your name is Garelli?”

EDIT: CURSE YOU, MCCLURE!

(I always felt like I’m the only one who ever noticed that)

-Joe

Juanita up at the diner.

Barney Fife’s bullet.

Otis letting himself into the jail cell.

King of the Hill: Peggy’s 3rd person references to herself. Every group endeavor is “Team… Peggy Hill!” or when she cons a conman who sells her a phony Ph.D. “he never reckoned on dealing with Doctor… Peggy Hill.” Also, her references to Espan-nol and her gargantuan (Ladies Size 17) feet.

And Hank’s narrow urethra

And the John Redcorn cuckolding gag

And her frequent statements along the lines of, “Triangles, in my opinion, have three sides.”

-Joe

Oh yeah and I like the evil monkey from Family Guy.

Dr Cox’s unexplained hatred of Hugh Jackman.

Barney Miller - upon examining porn confiscated “I don’t know what it’s for but it’s reasonably priced…”

Cotton Hill’s pronunciation of Nazi (rhymes with spazzy).

GOLDEN GIRLS: “Back in St. Olav…” stories.

Just about everything from Police Squad:

The opening title card with:

Police

Squad!

In color

“Cigarette?” “Yes, it is.”

Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln

The special guest star (William Shatner, Florence Henderson, etc.) getting offed in the opening credits.

Frank Drebin crashing his car into increasing numbers of trash cans with the number of cans being equal to the number of the episode.

Police scientist Ted Olson giving a highly suspect or dangerous lesson to a kid, in a perverse Mr. Wizard-type manner.

Johnny the shoeshine boy as a source of everything from giving Drebin information on his latest case to giving Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda advice on his pitching rotation and Dick Clark “Secret Formula Youth Cream”.

And the closing credits, in which, in a parody of freeze-framing in other shows, the actors would freeze while other action continued around them. For example, coffee pouring into a cup and overflowing, or a criminal realizing he could escape.

Simpsons–“The day the laughter died”.

They begin to show multiple scenes from past shows where Homer is strangling Bart, as Troy McClure (God rest his soul) is discussing the evolution of the show with Homer.

Homer: “and that horrible instance of child abuse became one of the show’s most beloved gags”.

When I was a teenager and someone said something absolutely outrageous, or asked something absurd, my response was always "I’m comin’ Elizabeth, I’m comin". You know, from Sanford And Son.

Oh, and for everybody saying chicken pot chicken pot chicken pot pieeeeeee I sing that every time I see David Cross. Best show of that series ever. Ever.

Imagine that one if the series had continued for 3 or 4 seasons…

I came here to mention the HIMYM “slap bet,” but someone beat me to it.

Another one from Family Guy: I laugh every time Peter destroys Cleveland’s house, with Cleveland in the bathtub. “No no no no no no, noooo!”

Arrested Development, while visiting prison:

“NO TOUCHING!!”

Even down to bring your daughter to work day.

From Monty Python:

The “It’s…” guy in the opening and closing credits
The knight in armor bonking people on the head with a chicken
The grinning naked guy at the organ
The Viking rolling his eyes
The stock footage of the women’s club clapping
The Army captain impatiently trying to move the show along
A tuxedoed John Cleese in various odd places declaring, “And now for something completely different!”

From The Kids In The Hall:

30 Helens agree.

“Oh my God, they killed Kenny! . …You bastards!”

SouthPark

Blood on the Badge

Of course, the ultimate irony is that Redd Foxx eventualy would die of a heart attack. I guess he wasn’t lying after all.
