Your favourite clever album title

Ahhh Zappa, every album title was gold back in the MOI days.

SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND by Genesis

HELL FREEZES OVER (released by the Eagles years after they said they’d reunite when hell froze over)

The Klezmatics’ Jews with Horns.

Shivaree - I Oughta Give You A Shot In The Head For Making Me Live In This Dump

I love that album.

The Butthole Surfers Hairway to Steven

The original title of their album Cream Corn was Cream Corn from thye socket of Davis with a picture of Sammy Davis with cream corn soming out of his eyeless socket. Threats of lawsuits stopped that one.

Gotta love them Firesign album titles. How about the relatively recent, Give Me Immortality Or Give Me Death?

Deborah Harry, lead singer of Blondie, released an album back around 1990 called Deborah Harry: Def, Dumb and Blonde. I freakin’ love that title.

Green Eggs and Crack
Son of Sam I Am
Cereal Killers
All from the band Too Much Joy

Cunning Stunts by Caravan

I’m also fond of System of a Down’s Steal this Album (Yes, I know who Abbie Hoffman is) not just for the name, but to the lengths they went to to make the album look like a bootleg CD-R copy.

Sheik Yerbouti, another by Frank Zappa.

[sub]You have to pronounce it “Shake”[/sub]

Not a Zappa fan, but I always like Weasels Ripped My Flesh.

After which you always say, “Rzzzzzzzz”

Old Testaments and New Revelations, Kinky Friedman

The Braillettes: Our Hearts Keep Singing

Dangit, someone already said Punk in Drublic

“Stan Freberg with the Original Cast”. The picture on the LP cover was of him and, of course, he had a cast on his foot.

Got Two:

 1. Caravan..."For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night"

 2. LOVE...."Forever Changes"

Smog: Dongs of Sevotion.

The Beatles: Rubber Soul

Morphine: B-sides and Otherwise

The Real MacKenzies: Loch’d and Loaded

The Real MacKenzie: Clash of the Tartans (see a theme there yet?)

Moby: I Like to Score

Iron Maiden: Piece of Mind

Not quite on topic, but my favorite album title of all time is The Executioner’s Last Song: The Pine Valley Cosmonauts Consign Songs of Murder, Mob-Law, and Cruel, Cruel Punishment to the Realm of Myth, Memory, and History to Benefit the Illionois Death Penalty Moratorium Project. Volume I.

I heard it said on Mtv that the Red Hot Chili Peppers’s first album was called “Greatest Hits.” However, I’ve never been able to find any verification of that fact. Maybe they were talking about an independent release before they signed with a big label?

. . . or maybe I was wooshed.

Last Mango in Paris

A friend of mine in the late 70’s was in a band called Slipper who were dropped by their label after poor sales of their first album “Slipper 1”.
Their second album was to have been called “Slipper another 1”
