Your Given Name

Peter William Taurins

Pronounced Torrens.

My last name is Hunter.
I love it. its my married name, my maiden name was stupid and always gotten wrong.

The weird thing is, every time I give my name on the phone, its alwasy "Is that h-u-n-t-e-r?

HOW ELSE CAN YOU SPELL IT???

His name is my name toooooooooo

C’mon… I can’t be the only one who thought that! ::snicker:: Just like I can’t be the only one who misread the “first name” and “my father’s favorite doll”… and immediately knew that Arden came by all her quirks naturally.

Oh, and FCM… uh, yeah. [sub]trifle[/sub] I’m feelin’ the love here. Look, just cause [sub]trifle[/sub] I called you and about 50 bajilion other Catholic women out, doesn’t mean you have to be all uppity about it. I mean, [sub]trifle[/sub] if y’all had had an ounce of sense and creativity, you would’ve realized that Lives of the Saints had a [sub]trifle[/sub] whole slew of names to choose from. It’s not my fault 99.9 % of you [sub]trifle[/sub] decided not to do your homework and wound up with either Mary or Elizabeth. You’re just jealous 'cause my choice was cooler than your choice. [sub]trifle[/sub] So there. Pbbbbbbtttt.

coincidence?

Brian Matthew Drake. The fun part is my last name. See, I’m part Irish and Sir Francis (no relation) at one time led the English occupation of Ireland. So basically, my name and my heritage are at war with one another. The only way it could be more warped is if I was part Spanish.

Yeah, well MY choice was cooler than both of yours. If we’re talkin’ confirmation names, I’ve got Kateri Tekakwitha.

vanilla, that looks like fun; I’ll try it, too.

Leslie Ng

My mother says she sort of named me after my aunt (her brother’s wife), but that she liked the name Leslie, as well. I’d go into how I met this guy with the same name as me (first and last) in Gr. 8, but that’s a whole other thread I’ve been contemplating. (and might start, too)

As for my middle name, it means “catalpa tree” in Chinese; a botanist family friend explained it to me as a cigar tree. No, not a tree that cigars grow on (as if), but a kind of tree that grows in China, and apparently in Vancouver, as well.

When I told my friend Eric about this, he immediately teased me: “Are you sure it doesn’t mean a little Mexican dog? No? So since you’re short [about 4 ft. 11], does that mean they have short trees in China?” Never mind… it’s the “king of trees”, I told him. sigh… some people just don’t get it!

Scarlett67, in about the second grade or so, I found it rather amusing that I knew these two sisters called Beth and Amy. Between the two of them, they had two of the March sisters covered. I never asked them if they had sisters named Meg (Margaret) or Jo (Josephine).

Meaghan Patricia Siobhan O’Malley

I like my name:)

Cynthia JayneWaddellFrench

My maiden name ]Waddell is Scottish for “the watcher on the hill”. My family line has been traced to 1700’s highlands of Scotland. Near Edinbourogh? maybe.

My oldest aunt Wands spent years interviewing older relatives and researching geneology charts, birth and death records. church documents, and even hiring professionals to track down the information.

She compiled all this info and put it in a logical order then typed the documents herself and made copies for all eight of her brothers and sisters. It has been years since I read my dad’s copy. I’d like to scan it and save it to disc. I think I’m going to have to visit him tommorow.

Colin Evans McBride.
Ummmm…yep.

Robin Lee (Surname withheld because it’s uncommon enough that it would be too easy to figure out who I really am and where I live)

Most people call me Rob, however.

I don’t like it because it is entirely non-gender specific.

Julianne Lauren Stern.

Let’s see do I have any interesting comments about my name… uh no. Uninteresting comment: I was named after my great-grandfather, Jules.
I am, in fact, related to Howard Stern.
[sub]okay, okay, not THE Howard Stern.[/sub]

Craig Allan Kingsley
The family name is generic English, and no, I’m not related to Ben.
The middle name is from my mother’s brother, but I hardly ever use it, as my first name is fairly uncommon.
The first name was picked by my parents because they liked the sound of it and because one can’t nickname it. (Well, you can, but not easily or well)

Real name is John Michael Semancik

Other names:
Derek Lennon (or Lenhan)
Napoleon Underwood
Jeff McArthur
Alistar Harris
George Malone
Bob

Molly Kay Schneider
Begin rant:
I hate my name. I really hate it, and I’m so jealous of all of you with cool-sounding, or at least decently boring names. Although my mother was a wonderful woman, she had no creative imagination (geez, she even named our beagle ‘Spot’ fer cryin’ out loud).
First name: I’m half German and half Russian. So where the heck did Molly come from? Plus, I get people all the time asking me if it’s a nickname.
Middle name: My parents were Louis and Katherine, so my sister got the middle name Lou and I got Kay. Is anybody puking yet?
Last name: Why is it that people can put the ‘sch’ sound in Schmidt, but not in Schneider?

Sigh…and what really rubs it in is that my relatives on my mother’s side have all these long, exotic-sounding Russian names. <pout>

End rant.

Marissa Kay

I’m 25 so it has been a pretty unique name for me. However it is becoming too popular.
One of my grandfathers was so old fashioned that he thought Marissa was a modern name, and refused to call me by it. He died when I was 14, but he never called my Marissa. I was always Missy to him.

My first and middle names are Thomas Albert.

BTW, FairyChatMom, My wifes given name is Michele. She’s been called Mickey all her life though.

So… uhhh… you’re French, right?

I’m writing a story with a character named Siobhan… weird.
