Someone posted on page 1 that he’d accidentally mistaken this for the “best” poll.
The same can also be said of Natalie Portman (well, except with a different set of good performances, of course). I can just picture Lucas shouting “Cut! Let’s try that again, but more wooden this time.”
I think we can all basically agree that the original series is the best, What I want to know is why Lucas would ruin them by trying to make more? In the past on top of that, and somehow they managed to have better tech back then…strange. I do agree there were some smokin’ hot babes, but still they all pale in comparison to the great and mighty sex goddess Carrie Fisher.
I mentioned in another thread some time ago that the worst acting in the prequels - by a mile - is by Natalie Portman. Her performance is positively atrocious.
She gets a pass, though, because she’s been in a zillion other movies and been good in all of them. Viewers quite rightly assume it must be the movie, not the actor. Hayden Christiansen doesn’t get the same pass because nobody knew who the hell he was.
It’s hard for me to choose just one. All three of the prequels seem like fan fiction of the original trilogy.
In the end I had to pick Attack of the Clones. I can’t even describe why I hate it so much. At least The Phantom Menace had 1.) Gungans dying and 2.) Duel of the Fates
See, I thought that too at first, but then someone (I forget who) pointed out that during the prequels, it’s implied that the galaxy was more prosperous economically, which means more money to make better-looking, sleeker stuff. But by the time the original trilogy rolls around, things aren’t as prosperous, so all that shiny new tech had to be used and reused over and over, which is why everything is so battered and worn (the Millennium Falcon, you’ll remember, is supposed to be a clunker). And if you look at Anakin’s false hand in Clones, you’ll note that it’s a metallic claw. Luke’s just looks like his own hand.
Never thought about it quite like that, Maiira, you’re right, after the Empire took over the wealth dissipated. Just goes to show how bad dictators really are :).
