Take it for what it is. This is not meant to save anyones life.
There are a couple of off-duty MDs on this board.
I myself would be happy give some pointers.
This is of course not meant as official medical advice, but I am available for some pointers which of course calls for major leauge disclaimers. Let say “for comedic purposes” , shall we?
I bumped my knee a few days ago and now it’s all green and pussy. Also, I’ve thrown up at least 15 times since then and I’ve been very lethargic. Do you think I have an infection? Is there something herbal I can rub on it to make it better?
(I’m sorry, I had to make a joke. Your thread entered our facility already on it’s death bed and isn’t likely to make it through the night, though we’ll do everything we can to keep it as comfortable as possible)
ETA I just saw the reply to above mine. I know we aren’t allowed to give medical advice (hence the joke), but I’ve heard nothing but good things about Tart Cherry Juice concentrate for gout.
I’ve had (and still have) great urologists! Not a single one has been able to do anything for me that cuts down on the number of kidney stones/kidney infections I get, except for my most recent urologist, who went so far as to remove my right kidney.
Other than that, my kidneys have pretty much sucked since I was 15.
Oh, and since we’re bitching about medical stuff, there’s this: I’ve been over-night (at least) admitted to hospitals probably more than a dozen times in my life. Every. Single. Time. there will be a time-period when I’m due for pain meds, but the nurses are too busy to get around to me for anywhere between 45 minutes to three hours!
Let’s hear it for pain-control pumps where I can do it my damn self!
I have cataracts in one eye, and will be getting surgery in September, when I’ll be on Medicare. I have a choice between a generic lens and one that corrects my farsightedness and astigmatism (for which I would have to pay more). I’m an artist, and rely on my eyesight. It sure would be great if I didn’t have to wear glasses.
But my question is: If I get the “correcting” lens, what is the chance that at some point in the future my sight further deteriorates. I’m back to wearing glasses, right?
I had a thread about this, but I’ve had chronic headaches since the third grade. I went through the gamut of medical tests and treatments back then, but they did nothing. If I could afford it, I’d go back and try again and see if modern technology could do something for them.
Should I believe the one doctor who told me that anemia always has a cause and it’s important to find out why I’m anemic, or the other doctor who doesn’t seem to worried about it and told me to just take an iron pill every once in a while?
IANAD! But I was seriously anemic (needed a five-day course of iron infusions by IV). My best (non-medical) advice would be to get a good iron pill and take one daily. Of course, after you take your iron pill, you may need a slice of EvilTOJ’s pizza to, uh, ‘regulate’ you again!
Oh, I hear you! Ice cream doesn’t bother me. Sugar doesn’t bother me. Milk doesn’t bother me. But these days, I cannot drink a milkshake without getting violently ill.
