I’m thinking of buying the Scottevest Essential Travel Jacket.
Reviews seem so-so, and I’m inferring that it’s a good concept (decent-looking but with plenty of pockets) but with a few flaws (quick to wear out around the buttons, magnetic buttons possibly trouble for personal electronics). Sure would be nice to have a good jacket like this, though.
Anyone have one? How do you like it? Or, can you recommend an alternative?

What exactly is a “travel jacket” as opposed to any other run-of-the-mill jacket?
It looks nice to me but seems otherwise generic…
ETA: On further inspection (the x-ray view), it does seem to have a bunch of fancy pockets and such.
It says “compatible with iPad”, what does that even mean?
I think it’s a great idea, but when I went to look at the sizing chart, I noticed it stops at 6’2", which is gonna mean it fits me like a jean jacket, which is to say, it won’t even come down to my waist, and the sleeves are going to be 3/4 sleeves on me.
Good idea tho.
moejoe I think that just means the pocket is sized to hold an iPad.
It doesn’t do that much for me but I don’t claim to know anything about fashion or style. I’m all about practicality and comfort. If I feel I need nineteen different pockets then I’d rather have most of them on the outside like a fisherman’s or photographer’s vest. That’s just me though.
This jacket model guy…is awesome.
Personally I don’t think it’s a great looking jacket, but it might look better in one of the other colors. Having all of those pockets is cool, but when you fill them up you’re going to look awfully lumpy.
And you’re not going to be able to bend very much with your iPad armor plating there.
Well, I’m interested in it because of all the pockets on the inside. Jackets I buy never have enough pockets on the inside, and this one has plenty.
I guess I don’t really need 19 pockets, but I’d rather have 19 than 1 or 2, which isn’t enough.
If I buy it I’ll get black, not tan. I think the jacket model is the president of the company.
I have to admit, I wish my jacket had a big enough pocket to hold a book.
I have a Scottevest product, and it’s not bad at all- scads of pockets. But after you buy from them, they will spam you endlessly.
