Your opinions of turkey bacon.

Turkey “bacon” is more processed and less healthy than real bacon.

I’m skeptical that it’s less healthy. Do you have a cite?

I liked when swift American made sizzlelean….they made an maple and brown sugar version that was better than real bacon and mom thought it cooked better for breakfast … it just disappeared …. and according to the websites I checked no one knows why… they should bring it back although someone else owns the trade mark now ….

Turkey bacon is a close-ish facsimile of bacon in terms of taste. But in terms of texture, crunchiness, etc. it falls far behind.

Mrs. FtG used to buy me turkey bacon for health reasons. Now just regular bacon. Not sure why.

So the BLT I had last night was real bacon.

Doubtful. As much as I dislike the stuff, “healthy” is not really a quantifiable and rankable quality.

Is she mad at you?

 d&r

Turkey bacon tastes so…healthy.
mmm

If it tastes like disappointment, it’s the healthy version?

I like turkey bacon, as well as turkey ham and turkey burgers. But I have to cut back, not for the fat but for the sodium. My cardiologist recommends them, my nephrologist not so much.

And “the real thing”? They’re all the real thing, just different things. Pig bacon is no more “real” than turkey bacon.

I’d like to teach the world to fry
At perfect temperature
Some strips of processed salty meat
With no health forfeiture…

I’d like some easy over eggs
With hash browns on the side
Don’t need no cardiologist
To tell me how I died.

It’s the real thing…ba-con
What the world wants today
Pork or turkey’s okay
It’s the real thing…

(Hah! Let the millennials figure this one out!)

A friend was a vegetarian until he moved away from home to go to medical school. Then he started literally eat a pound of bacon a day. “It’s just so delicious, and I have to make up for lost time”. He became a cardiologist.
