Your Philosphy

In any given situation, one must ask themselves one question:

What would Rambo do?
(Apparently, Rambo likes to headbutt things into submission.)

Lack of empathy is the true root of all evil.

In the words of Zen master Mike Nesmith:

People are no damn good.

Leave the world better than you found it.

My philosphy?

Life happens.
I don’t believe each person has a higher purpose, or a predetermined role to play in life. I think life is pretty much random, and that most things that may seem big and important really don’t matter all that much in the long run. We are just floating down a river without much say in the matter of where we end up. Instead of worrying, I think we might as well enjoy the ride

That said, I also believe that it’s the small things that make the most difference in the world. I figure if I can make one persons life a bit easyier each day, I’m doing good.

Kinda ties in with the whole idea of leaving the world a little bit better place than when you started.

Let’s see… my philosophies. Hmm…

Everything happens for a reason - It may not always seem like the best thing at the time, but it usually works out to be, some how. It may take moments to see it, it may take years, but it does have a reason for being.

No regrets - Goes hand in hand with above. I’ve never really wanted to go back and change anything that I’ve done, because by doing so, I wouldn’t be the same person I am now, with the same good things in my life. It may have been better, had I taken a different path, but it also may have been worse.

Be the best friend I can - I try to be there when people need me, even if it isn’t convienent for me. I give what I can, when I can. Friends are too precious a commodity to ignore.

Follow your heart while listening to your head - No one can live on love alone, and pure logic is a cold substitute. If you use them both, you’ll go so far.

And, of course, the philosophy in my sig… (the first one, of course)
Hmm… these are the ones I can think of at 1:30 in the morning. If I think of any more tomorrow, I’ll let you know! :wink:

Love like it’s never going to hurt. Yes, it will, but the ride is more interesting this way.
Be flexible.
Open your eyes and look at what’s right in front of you.
Family, Diety, and Country are so important that you can’t forget how important they are to everyone. (does that make any sense?)
Music, kissing, and writing are about the best things ever.
Things tend to work out.

That which does not kill me had better run damned fast…

I’ve thought about this one a hell of a lot over my lifetime thus far. What seems to keep percolating up through the chaos is pretty much just that I do the best that I can.

I’m dumb. The first rule of life is “yield to things bigger than yourself.” Followed by “What would Rambo do?”

(There would be a LOT of pain the other way around.)

Epistemology -> Objective Truth
Metaphysics -> Self-will
Ethic -> “The Creation Principle”. Positive Creation & Avoidance of Destruction
Aesthetic -> Truth & Delusion
Politics -> Ethical Democratic Freedom

To quote my answer from “The Atheist Religion Part 3”.

Subjective alternatives will lead to your demise and counter-cross the path that is correct.

Perspective is everything.

:smiley:

The unexamined life is not worth living.

I believe Socrates said it.

Don’t sweat the petty stuff and don’t pet the sweaty stuff.

(with apologies to dubs)

The unlived life is not worth examining.

The only thing constant is change.

And, this one took me a long time to understand it’s complexity:

When once asked the meaning of life, HH the Dalai Lama answered: “To be happy, and to make others happy.”

A Tall Simple Order.

I think Ben Jonson (with a little help from Catullus) said it much better than I can:

Time will not be ours forever,
He at length our good will sever;
Spend not then his gifts in vain.
Suns that set may rise again,
But if we once lose this light,
'Tis with us perpetual night.

Well, maybe not; I don’t know. But we only pass this way once, and we may as well enjoy it while we can.

Whatever you do, whatever happens to you, whatever goes on around you, whatever you see, hear, taste, smell, experience, or whatever else, good or bad or neutral… Learn from it. Always.

Remain calm.

Do whatever you feel like, as long as you don’t harm anyone else doing it.

And for the love of all things good and holy, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!
I’m also adding the following:

and

Both of you are now in my official edition of ‘Mnementh’s big book of people who rule’. Consider yourselves priveledged.

“Fuck the bib.”
