You can only bring one book and one album/cd (yes, a cd player will be available). What do you bring?
Abbey Road is the CD I bring. The book is a tougher choice, but today I choose Dune.

Book “How To Get Rescued Quickly” by I.M.Handy
C/C “1812 Overture” - It’s already the only thing in my car. I never seem to tire of it.
Book-Time Enough For Love by Robert Heinlein
Music-Cosmic Wheels by Donovan
Book: A dictionary
CD: Any Andrew Lloyd Webber Anthology.
I would choose Dune as well, but probably because I am currently rereading the book for the 400th time, because I just saw the movie again.
The CD is a tough one (I don’t actually own any CD’s - I refuse to buy a CD player - could I bring a tape?). It would probably be one of my “Best of the 80’s” type tapes.
I assume that there is some power source, otherwise why have the CD unless just to look at it. I would trade in my book for a laptop fit with sat communication and a blank CD so I could burn my favorite songs on the CD and read books on netlibrary.com. Eventually, and hopefully, someone would catch up with me for all those unpaid satcom bills right?
CD: Either my MP3 collection on there or Joe Satriani - Flying in a Blue Dream
Book: Desert Island Survival
I do not own a CD player either, so may I take another book?
I select ‘My Side of the Mountain’ and the ‘Boy Scout Hand Book.’
CD: Monster Ballads cause it has variety
Book: Gone with the Wind. I’ve read it about 10 times and seen the movie about 20 and I never get tired of it.
Book-SlaughterHouse Five
CD-I don’t actually own this CD, but I see commercials for it all the time. I think it’s called “Modern Rock,” but it’s basically all the stuff that was alternative before Nirvana (REM, Pixies, B-52s, Jane’s Addiction, My Bloody Valentine).
Book: “Insomnia” by Steven King. It’s long, it has action, it also has a deeper side. I’ve read it three times but I look forward to reading it again.
CD: Whitney Houston Greatest Hits. It’s actually 2 CDs, but the case looks like one so hopefully I could sneak both in. If not, it would be the “Thrown Down” CD of the set so I could stay in shape dancing.
CD-Marshal Mathers LP by Eminem cause it cracks me up
Book-Annotated Dragonlance Choronicles because they can be read a thousand times and never get old.
I also want my island near Fanny May so I can borrow her copy of How To Get Rescued Quickly.
Book: Catch-22
CD: The Fragile, by Nine Inch Nails. I’ve had it for six months and I listen to it almost every day and never seem to tire of it.
Book: The Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald
CD: Moon Safari, Air
I would make certain to bring enough apostrophes to go around.
Your Sentenced to a Deserted Island and…
Not sure about the CD and book, but I know what I would eat.
The Sand-which-is there.
You have to say it real fast.
Book: The book of Survival or 101 tasty sand treats , which is yet to be written.
CD: Almost definetly Sergeant Pepper’s, but maybe a multiple volume anthology of something…
Euell Gibbons “how to stalk the blue eyed scallop”( gathering, cooking & enjoying beach comestibles)
CD; “the SAS survival handbook” (yes, it is on a CD for your PC)
I may be a bit bored, but I’ll be alive.
Hrrm…
Book - “Goedel, Escher, Bach - The eternal golden braid”
Might actually be forced to figure the damn thing out. It’s like looking through a fogged window and getting glimpses of wonders.
CD - Hmm I guess a toss-up between Tool “Aenima” and Talking Heads “Stop Making Sense”. Aenima may be too current to be considered relevant to ya’ll, but it speaks to me…
CD Calore King - Tapestry
Book - my journal
