Your theories for Harry Potter Book 7 (spoilers, obviously)

It is online now.

I won’t post a link, but someone took a copy and photographed(yes…photographed) every page of the entire book.

I have ordered my copy, but may begin reading the online copy tomorrow. I’ll never finish by Saturday.

I don’t want to break a forum rule, but I will post the “dedication”, which is not part of the story at all. I’ll even spoiler-box it.

Mods, if I’m breaking a rule even mentioning the online version of the book, please let me know and delete this post.

The dedication reads:

The dedication of this book is split seven ways. To Neil, to Jessica, to David, to Kenzie, to Di, to Anne, and to you if you have stuck with Harry to the very end.

It’s written scrolling down the page, like a walking path.

Anyway, just thought I’d mention it for anyone who is curious. And yes, it’s 100% definitely a photo(not a scan) the whole book, including the chapter titles and even the blank pages at the end. It’s from a distance.

I began(soon after) that my post was a bit lame.

Let me give you two chapter titles, so you know I’m not kidding.

Hmm…

Chapter Eight is called:

The Wedding

Chapter Twenty - Nine is called:

The Lost Diadem

There are 36 chapters and an epilogue.

Well that’s it! This thread is dead to me. I don’t want to be tempted.

Me too =*(

Dudley doing magic? No, JKR excluded it saying that Dudley is just Dudley, with no hidden surprises. Good idea on Voldy there; death is what he fears, so he could get into a state worse than death and crave for it for eternity.

As for Fenris, I don’t think killing him will cure poor Lupin. If lycantropy is contagious, destroying its source won’t instantly cure the affected, or Lupin would have gone after Fenris a long time ago rather than being discriminated and left in a corner.

On a side note, does a powerless Voldemort (or spirit, or ghost, or etc.) count as “surviving”? The prophecy does say that neither can live if the other survives.

(Also, wouldn’t it be great if the whole prophecy plot turned out to be fake/not affect the outcome?)

Who has time to scan a bajillion pages of a book and load them online?

Honestly, I was wondering the same thing. The book is 759 pages, plus a few blank pages, a table of contents, the about the author and illustrator, the dedication, and a few other pages.

Divide the total in half(two pages per photo) and it’s over 360 jpegs.

I guess somebody out there really wants to make sure the book gets read. You think they’d photograph the first 2 chapters or so, but it’s the whole book!

Of course, if it weren’t photographs, I’d assume it’s a fan-fiction. Still, who has time?

By the way, it seems quite good so far. I have no idea what’s going to happen!

You’re thinking of lycanthropy as an ordinary pathogen, not a magical curse. Killing Fenris could well end it for all afflicted.

And it’s possible Lupin (and most or all other lycanthropes) don’t know this.

I’ve been seriously contemplating staying off the internet until I’ve had a chance to read the book, because you just know idiot trolls are going to start posting spoilers everywhere.

Actually, this is why I’m taking the opportunity to start reading it before Saturday. I figure it will give me a head-start on spoilers.

I remember during Half-Blood Prince’s release, my wife and I had to race through it to avoid spoilers. The major death in that book was mentioned freely on Jay Leno 9 days after release.

This time, we’re starting early.

If that IS the real deal-I hope they are tracked down and sued.

What asses to do such a thing. Usually I’m all for freedom of the press and information and all that, but this? No way. Assholes. I’ll bet these folks were the same folks that just had to go look in the closets for their presents–jeesh, can no one WAIT anymore? what the hell is wrong with people? General pointless rant over…

No more looking into HP stuff to build my excitement, I guess. Why do people have to ruin things?

Here’s the spoiler for you: Harry’s parents die.

:stuck_out_tongue:

9 days? Plenty of time. I’ll have it finished by sunrise.

Avoiding spoilers is why I’m glad the books are relased on Saturdays instead of Tuesdays (like most books seem to be). I’ll be at WalMart first thing the 21st, go straight home and read it right through without turning on the TV or computer. I’ve already cleared my schedule. ANd I guess I’d better start avoiding this thread myself – I don’t want to be tempted, either.

I did that once when I was a child. I never got caught, but Christmas Day was such a letdown because I already knew what I was getting that I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Never did it again, as you can imagine.

I’m not that way - I don’t think surprises are spoiled by getting surprised a little bit sooner (like finding out the baby’s sex at sonogram time instead of waiting until the kid is actually born) - but I’m not going to look at pirated material. I’m big on respecting copyright. And I’m not going near this board from sundown July 20th until I’ve finished the whole book either.

Amen to that. That was what I did with HBP and it worked out wonderfully.

Pick up the book at Midnight *. Get home around 1am. Make cup of tea and bowl of popcorn. Read like the wind!

I am so sorry I read about the book being online. I am really not a good waiter. I am so tempted to seek it out. I just have to remind myself that reading even part of it early will defeat all my Friday night plans and take all the excitement out of it. What’s the point of going to the Midnight Magic party and stuff if I’ve already read the book? Boy o boy, this is going to be a long week.
*Barnes and Noble has a terrific system. When you show up you get a wrist band with a number. At the stroke of midnight someone locally “important” (last time it was the Mayor) starts to read the book aloud. You get called up to the counter in groups of 50 by the number on your wrist band. It’s all very organized. There’s no pushing and shoving or fighting or cutting. I had the book in my hot little hands and was on my way home by 12:30.

My wife has the book. Connections, you know. Shall I let you all know how it turns out?

BTW, she’s a third of the way through it and let me tell you, there’s shit in there that will blow your mind right out the back of your head.

You’re an evil, evil person.
