Aw, I liked that one! I expected an all-out gross-out, but it actually turned out to be kind of a sweet love/lust story, rendered entirely on the narrator’s own terms.

I’ll give you that and I thought the ending was very well done but:

bbq tongs will never be the same for me and the scene where she deliberately reinjures herself left me whimpering.

so all in all, I don’t think I would have missed much had I never read it in the first place.

Agreed- I love Jane Eyre but Wide Sargasso Sea was incoherent. It actually started fairly well but it was scrambled and, in my opinion, untrue to the character of Rochester (not that I think he’s wonderful).
