I watched “Abigail’s Party” recently on YouTube, I think (maybe Hulu?) It was really riveting - like a car wreck you know you really shouldn’t be watching. I mean that in the best of ways - it was really amazing.

Harvey the Heavy:
I’m rather certain that a video copy of this has turned up in recent years. Super Bowl II, though, I’m pretty sure is still lost.
Let’s see…I’ve actually been pretty lucky so far, in the age of internet video, but I’m still looking for:
•That episode of Adventures of Little Koala where the protagonist (hmmm…can’t seem to remember his name…) meets a “Moon Goddess.” I actually managed to find the Arabic-dubbed version online, but that’s it.
• Episode 11, “Protégé,” from the cult kids animated series The Legend of Calamity Jane, where the heroine apparently recalls the first time she* shot someone*. (I heard about this one secondhand, admittedly)
•Borderline nomination: the official release of Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot, online or on DVD. It was online, up to a few months ago, but apparently the distributors decided they’d rather not show it for free when they could make just as much money by not-selling it, either. Because they is smart.
Yup, you are correct:

Hopefully it’s completely restored (as much footage as there is) and made available to the public sometime soon.
Years ago, when Slim was an infant and still waking up and eating at all hours of the day and night, we went through a period where we cut off the cable in order to try and save a bit of money.
Several nights in a row, I got up to give him a bottle and ended up watching TV so I didn’t fall asleep in the middle of feeding him. I remember watching some really strange shit on PBS–a “Learn to Speak French” type program for elementary aged kids where a group of 10 year olds were studying in their prof’s apt (somewhat creepy) and the extremely creepy show that I swear was called “E-Con And Me” which was about a group of kids and their invisible friend, E-Con who taught them the joys of learning about how the economy works.
I have never been able to prove that “E-Con And Me” exists though. Based on what I rememeber of the clothing and slang used by the characters, I’d have to say it was filmed in the late 70s, possibly the early 80s.
I used to catch the very, very late night network news (or, if you prefer, very, very early). They got quite loopy on occasion. I remember one time they gave all the hockey scores multiplied by pi. And every Friday there was the World News Polka (I believe William Shatner even did it once). A compilation of their best moments would be worth seeing.
And, inspired by this thread, I just sent a letter to the TV station in Seattle that aired Pompeii on Elliott Beii to see if there’s any chance of ever seeing it again.
I so very much loved the CBS Season’s Greetings commercial from the late 60s, and I never thought I’d see it again. Then, some of the Dopers found it for me on YOUTUBE.
Another commercial, I think from 1967, was for a cartoon festival for the day after Thanksgiving. There was an animated turkey singing:
“O, the day after Turkey Day on ABC
There is gonna be a cartoon jubilee,
5 whole hours…something something…”
Keep looking for it, can’t find it. IIRC, they may have repeated it the following year.
Also, looking for kiddies show** Pip the Piper**, small, limited distribution, even though it was from California, or maybe Philly. I remember having a coloring book featuring the show, and I colored the arms of the female character, Miss Nelly?, either purple or brown!
There are about a thousand that I’m looking for; I could go on listing them for days!

Mine is a Japanese movie - can’t even remember if it was a Godzilla movie, but I think there was a turtle in it, and an alien spaceship that was like three black-and-white balls stuck together to form a triangle…
Mine is personal, it’s an episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos that I am reported to be shown in.
The contestant was family for a child in a karate tournament. The youngster did some cute deal with standing around and not actually getting close enough to the opponent to score. I’m sure I’ve reffed that match a number of times. Anyway, I am one of the referees, identifiable because of our gold T-shirts and my name on the back. Someone I know saw the episode and told me, but I never saw it. It would be fun to have a copy of that, just to see it and prove the point. But I don’t know how to sort through however many years worth of AFHV episodes to find that one bit. Kill me now.
That would have been between 2000 and around 2007.
My two were probably pretty common and thanks to the internet I was able to confirm both were real because I only had vague recollections of them as a kid. One was the Star Wars Holiday Special. The only memory I had of that was of the Little Wookie’s giant teddy bear getting its head ripped off by a Stormtrooper. It was one of the first things I sought out on line in the 90s. I had no idea how trippy and stupid the entire thing was. I think that stupid teddy bear traumatized me.
The other was just known to me as “The movie where kids carve their initials in a regular sized turtle and at the end you see the initials in a giant turtle” because that was all I remembered. It was probably ID’ed for me on the USENET Cecil Adams group as the TV movie “The Bermuda Depths” way back when. If you Google it, you will see I wasn’t the only seeking out that one.
Sounds like Destroy All Planets (American title of Gamera Vs. Viras).
Sounds like Gamera vs Guiron? Gamera vs. Guiron (1969) - IMDb
n/m, Gamera vs Viras seems to be a better match.
I was on an episode of Matlock once, as assistant DA. I had no lines and not even a credit. But I ain’t buying the box set on the off-chance of seeing myself 25 years younger.
Wow, hadn’t heard about that. According to Wikipedia, the halftime show and most of the third quarter are missing, but they could probably fill it out with NFL Films footage.
To be precise, I believe the version with Deanna Lund was “Mike Stokey’s Stump the Stars”: Pantomime Quiz - Wikipedia
If I remember correctly, in addition to being darned sexy, she was a pretty good charades player. She and Roger C. Carmel (Harry Mudd on Star Trek) made a great team. I’d pay money to see those shows again.
Years later, when he was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame, they reunited the boy(in his 20’s then) with Mr. Rogers, who ran up on stage to meet him.
I would love to see the video of their reunion. I remember Mister rogers stepping directly on stage to meet that all-grown-up boy. Very touching moment.
Sadly, the boy died in 2007.
You have got to be kidding me. I found it just now. Still brings tears to my eyes.
