You're a fine example of a cop dude. Really.

Uzi, does one drink ever just mean one drink to you? Are there no people in your world who drink responsibly? For whom “one drink” isn’t code for “And eight shots of vodka that I drank in secret”?

You know, I’ve been to aquariums. There’s no reason they couldn’t be filling one of those big tanks that holds millions of gallons with margaritas and serving them to customers. Who’d then drive home. Sickening!

Well there you go! He was with the Fashion Police.

Oh god, I missed that one the first time around. Denim shorts? He probably just assumed the OP was trashed already, to leave the house looking like that.

 … Sort of.

On behalf of non-drinking Canadians such as myself, I apologize for Uzi.

The sentiment is appreciated, but there’s no need. We realize that *batshit crazy morons *reflect no nationality nor creed.

Oh waitress, I’d like the supersized frozen margharita with a big awesome hammerhead shark in it, please.

Regular, or strawberry?

Regards,
Shodan

I didn’t even know sharks came in strawberry flavor! Awesome!

I think it’s more of a generic “red” flavor, and we just convince ourselves it’s strawberry, since it’s too weird to try to contemplate anything else.

ETA:

Nitpick: A margarita is a drink. A margherita is a pizza.

I know this for a fact: You can’t get to two drinks without having one. And the roughly 11000 people killed on the roads in the US every year and the billions of dollars these ‘accidents’ cost directly related to alcohol usage is my evidence that many don’t just stop at one. Luckily, many people do drink responsibly. Responsible enough that they don’t drive a car after drinking, whether one beer or many, even if they don’t consider themselves intoxicated.

Just because a certain number of drunk drivers are responsible for death and damage does not mean that everyone who has a drink and then drives is drinking irresponsibly. It is possible, despite your rabid insistence to the contrary, for someone to have a beer and be capable of driving safely. This may be because they have a higher tolerance for alcohol, or because they had food with their beer, or because they waited long enough after drinking that beer before getting behind the wheel.

The only rabid insistence in this thread is what you have just posted with the implicit denial that it could never happen that someone would drink two beers rather than just one. Somehow those people who do drive drunk have had more than one beer. Can we agree on that? And the only way to get to two beers is if we drink one beer. Follow that logic? There are many accidents attributed to people drinking alcohol. Are they evil people who started out to drink more than one beer? Or, do only alcoholics drive drunk?

I know this for a fact: you can’t get to two drinks of water without having one. There would be no water intoxicationif you didn’t have that first glass of water. Follow that logic?

Good grief.

You know what comes before ONE beer, which obviously leads to TWO beers?

ZERO beers. Thats right, all you ZERO beer drinkers are predestined to have ONE and we know WHERE that leads!

And you, Uzi, are a mass-murdering rapist. Obviously so, by your logic. (I am assuming that you have had sex and have swatted an insect sometime during your life.) Slippery-slope arguments like yours are asinine.

Who is denying that? Someone will. At lunchtime, it won’t be me.

Drinking two beers doesn’t necessarily make you impaired either, depending on circumstances. Drinking four beers doesn’t make you automatically impaired either. How fast did you drink them? What is your body mass? What food have you got in your stomach? What drugs are you taking? How does alcohol intake normally affect your body chemistry? There are many variables.

That is what folks are going off on you about; you don’t understand circumstances or variables. You are arguing from ignorance.

No one is denying that there are those who will drink too much, and drive, and create horrific and terrible tragedies. You are assuming that having a beer with lunch will inexorably lead to such a tragedy, and you are wrong.

How many people has someone who is water intoxicated killed other than himself? Stupid.

billfish678 Another stupid analogy unless you plan to have at least one. No planning to have one, then no way to have two.

silenus Can you have rape without sex? Yep. Can you have lots of sex until your dick falls off without rape? Yep. Can you be intoxicated without drinking a lot in a short period of time? Nope.
And yet another stupid analogy which doesn’t take into account that the only way to drive drunk is to drink. No one has yet admitted that the only way to get drunk is to start by having one drink. No one has yet admitted that some of the people who have killed other people on the roads have started out with the good intentions of only having one drink. Unless you agree that the only people who drive drunk are alcoholics or evil people, I guess. The slippery slope has been proven. You don’t like it. Wah! for you.

Say you are right and only 1 in ten will drink more than one beer, or 1 in a 100.
It is a numbers game. Start at the bottom of the pyramid. For every person who drinks a percentage of them will drive, for all those who drive a small percentage will be intoxicated, for all those who are intoxicated a small percentage will cause a collision, for all those collisions a small percentage will cause a death or serious injury. This is basic safety shit. By preventing small things like a near miss, you prevent large accidents that cause death. We spend a lot of time making sure that we stop the small stuff because it leads to the big stuff. A pinched finger reaches the highest levels of our company because they wonder if we are paying attention to these things. If any of you have been involved in the safety field you’d know this. By preventing all drinking and driving you prevent all deaths that result from them. By limiting the numbers you limit the results. So, take some fucking responsibility and don’t drink even one beer before you drive.

You’re acting as if it’s not in the person’s control how much they drink. There’s nothing about drinking one beer that makes you drink a second one. And the people that are going to drink five, six, seven or more in a couple of hours and still drive immediately afterwards were never concerned about not drinking and driving in the first place.

And if you only plan on having ONE, there is no way to have TWO (according to your assinine logic).

Has Dio been coaching you lately on the art of extreme position taking ?

You’d have a very minor point if you werent being so extremely slippery slope and idealistic about the whole thing.

But your extreme position and back pedaling just makes you look moronic.
