Stop moderating Israel discussions, like this one. Debate killer extraordinare, a legitimate difference comes up, but you disagree and topic-shut down happens. That is not what moderators are for.
Look, we realise the curious sentiment for Israel around your parts. And I was happy to let it go when Capitaine Zombie correctly identified you as willfully misreading my posts. Ie dishonest (goes for you 2 Marley (number). It is no damn good, you have really crossed a line and the number and vehemence of post complaints shouldn’t make a scrap of difference.
You know, if TomnDebb wasn’t continually drawing flak here for one thing or another (from all parts of the spectrum) I’d suspect he wasn’t doing his job properly. (You’re never going to please all the people all the time in GD). And I certainly can’t see any solid basis for criticizing his moderation in this particular instance.
The linked thread appears to be not-locked, and the only post from **Tomndebb **on the second page appears to correctly identify anti-semetic remarks, so I’m not sure what the OP is on about here.
Actually, he had a small post on the first page and one on the second page, by my count. I have no idea what the OP is on about, except the usual ‘why is everyone so mean to me because I don’t go along with all this Jew lovin’???'. Here were the two posts from Tom:
Did I miss something, or did the OP not even post in his own linked thread? Cause he mentions something about “my posts,” which I assumed referred to posts in that thread. Which, as has been pointed out, is still open and ongoing.
Just noticed that myself. My guess is the OP was simply using this as an example of bad modding by Tom in an anti-Semitic type thread…or, what the OP thinks is bad modding. The other bit is some past chip on his shoulder that he didn’t want to bother citing, because it was probably weaker than the link he actually did provide wrt proving Tom is an embarrassment or whatever.
I haven’t been a fan of Tom’s moderation in some instances, but I don’t see where he can be faulted in this thread. Given the subject matter and the personalities involved, he’s trying to keep discussion to the subject matter of the OP and prevent detours that’d provoke heated accusations from various sides and derail the thread.
I congratulate Sevastopol for airing his grievance here and not sharing his own “curious sentiments” in the linked thread.
It is important to know a bit about the OP’s history here to put the OP’s complaint into perspective. The OP is one of the board’s very few actual Jew-Haters. He’s not an anti-Zionist (ok, he is, but that’s in addition to, not instead of) he’s an actual Jew-hater who’s been warned and/or suspended for advocating genocide at least once.
Given that, it suddenly becomes no surprise that he thought Tomndebb’s very mild, very reasonable mod-note was a huge deal.
Please note–there’s absolutely no way, under the current rules to place this post correctly–I’m talking about Tomndebb’s mod-note (ATMB), but I also have to discuss the poster who’s so terribly emotionally damaged by Tom’s very clear note about how outright anti-semitism isn’t allowed that the OP had to start a thread about it (The Pit). I’m putting it here because it’s not worth a whole other thread in the Pit and it is ultimately about why Tomndebb’s moderation pissed of the OP so very much.
No, Fenris is explaining that commenting on another poster (the OP in this case) is more appropriate for the Pit than ATMB, but it’s also more appropriate for this thread than a new one in the correct forum.
