Would you vote for a candidate for a state legislature who was in his early twenties and a college students? Or, let me ask a better question - what impact would the candidate’s youth have on your voting decision?
How would you feel about a candidate who, in addition to having a platform on “traditional” issues, had as a high priority the institutionalization of youth involvement in politics? For example, this candidate might sponsor legislation establishing a blue-ribbon panel of high school students from schools all over the state, nominated by their teachers or peers. This panel would produce several reports a year detailing issues in the state education system from a youth perspective, as a complement to the traditional Education Department reports. Initiatives like this one would be used to increase the youth voice (18-25 year old) in state government.

[Yes, this is shameless exploitation of the good people at the SDMB for personal gain - I’m working on a couple youth campaigns right now, and I want to get responses from the most articulate, intelligent, and downright sexy people I can find. But they went home for the day, so I’m using the SDMB.
