Youtube - best tear jerking moments in film.

The Color Purple is one big sobfest for me in general, but I think the end where…

Celie is reunited with her sister Nettie and her two long-lost kids, Olivia and Adam

…is possibly the most heartwrenching movie moment ever.

Man, the ending of Dark Victory is just too sad. This clip catches most of it, but I wish it caught the moment in the garden when she realizes that the tumor (or whatever it was) was about to kill her. For those who haven’t seen it, this young woman has known for a while that she has some kind of brain disease that could kill her any minute; when it struck, everything would suddenly cloud over and she’d know she only had a few minutes before death, all the while slowly going blind. So she’s sitting in her garden with a friend when she suddenly wonders where the sun went. And then…well, you’ll see.

The saddest movie I’ve ever seen, though, is Tokyo Story.

I cried at the End of The Road.

This. It’s the only movie I’ve actually cried to, and it still upsets me. My dad and I didn’t have a great relationship growing up (similar to the movie), and like the movie, my dad played baseball and quit when his family started to grow (and to make matters worse, he was a catcher, like Ray’s dad). I loved baseball and played it through college, but I could count the number of times my dad and I threw a ball on one hand.

That scene brings back a flood of memories instantly. Having one more catch with Dad would have been a great thing.

End of Schindler’s List, where all the pilgrims are walking past his tomb to add another stone to the pile, and not one of them would have been alive if it weren’t for him.

And Up, too, as noted.

Yeah, thanks, man! …crawls over and snuggles with sleeps…

Nope! Not watching it, you bastard!

Definitely up there. But for me the original, Make Way for Tomorrow, the movie Tokyo Story is based on, manages to be even more heartbreaking.

The final scene from Silent Running

Okay, can you please tell me what this is? I can’t open You Tube at work…

‘When She Loved Me’ from Toy Story 2.

So true. When I was pregnant, my husband came home and found me watching Toy Story 2 during this scene and found a blubbering mess.

Thanks… Now I have to leave early from work to get my daughter from day care and hug her.

This montage from the end of And The Band Played On… If I’m not crying by Freddie Mercury, seeing Princess Di with the kids two frames later gets me. I can barely hear that Elton John song without crying.
Sally Field in Steel Magnolias. Poor quality video, but this scene is incredible.

Not because of the TS2 link, but Ianzin’s link, I am doing that exact thing today.

:::goes to wash tears off face:::

I ball like a baby during Armageddon EVERY time when

Bruce Willis pushes Ben Affleck back into the elevator so he can die saving the Earth. “Take care of Grace!” Oh, and of course again once he says good bye to Liv Tyler via video screen. And then once more when she runs out on the tarmack to embrace Affleck!

EVERY TIME! And ive seen it 50 times!

Sorry if anyone already posted those videos… I cant access the Tube at work…

Oh… and Fox and the Hound.

Oh! And Fried Green Tomatoes when Ruth dies!

Excuse me. I need a tissue.

I win.

That moment is trumped, IMO, by Suge singing that gospel song from her gut, and then hugging her daddy at the church Pulpit. “See daddy? Sinners got soul too!”

Oh dear lord

The way Liv Tylers voice cracks and the tears start to flow when she cries “Daddy!” I have 3 little girls and that is almost unwatchable for me.
