YouTube framing problem

Heya,

Not sure quite how I did it, but apparently in the past week I’ve managed to set some-sort of preference on YouTube that makes all videos I watch show up in a ‘letterboxed’ format. I’ve searched around on the site, but there’s so much asked there and the answers are of limited usefulness. Anyone have any idea what I did, and how to fix it?

Thanks much!

I think this was a universal thing, because all of mine’re doing that, too. And I didn’t change squat in my preferences. It works great on some of the higher quality vids, but it makes some of the more compressed vids look like crap.

It’s not anything you did. YouTube recently switched over to supporting HD videos, which require the larger aspect ratio. Apparently they just set their viewer to the HD ratio and non-HD videos need to be letterboxed. I find it somewhat annoying that they can’t load a different player depending on the video, but it’s not a big issue for me.

It may be that you can adjust settings, but I haven’t investigated to know if that’s so.
