YouTube green screen

How come when I watch a YouTube video, after the first few seconds, the YouTube window turns green for a second or two? It immediately corrects itself and moves on with no more green. I’ve only noticed this in the last few months.

Coincidentally you are trying to look at bad uploaded videos? I don’t see this, and I use both a PC and a stand alone box for my TV.

I thought that might be it, because I first saw it in two (bad) videos of my own that I uploaded. But I’ve seen it in other videos, too, like the one referred to in Cafe Society of a really fast Mozart piano piece. I thought it might have to do with the upload. But I’m still wondering why it happens.

I’m also using a PC.

Frame dropping can cause stuff like this if it hits at just the right moment. Frame dropping occurs when the connection is too busy and the frame can’t get through in time.

Ok. Thanks.

I used to have this problem, I believe I fixed it by right clicking on the video, clicking “settings” and then unchecking “enable hardware acceleration” which will prevent your graphics card from optimizing the video playback, which can sometimes cause these problems. This theoretically may make videos choppy, but I’ve never seen it happen. In fact, I’ve had more problems with choppy videos when they WERE accelerated.

I had the same problem a few days ago. This issue is with Flash Player. Either update it to the latest version or right-click on the video > Settings> Disable Hardware acceleration.
