So my YouTube account was just recently accepted as a Partner, but I’m totally perplexed by some of the new options I can now access.
So it seems every video I’ve uploaded now has a “Claim” options. If I click it, it gives several options, such as “Policy settings” where I can block it in all countries, monetize in all countries, or track in all countries. Below that is the “Video metadata” section which contains the video’s title, but a blank “description” box (why can’t it just grab it from the video itself, like the title?), as well as an (optional) notes box, and finally a unique ID number (what is that for?) Finally, at the very bottom is a checkbox that seems to be automatically checked which “allows InVideo advertising for this video.”
So I’m totally confused by all this, and I have a few questions:
-
What does “claiming” a video do?
-
Do I have to “claim” a video in order for it to start being monetized? In other words, are my videos automatically making me money now, or do I have to go through all 400+ and “claim” them individually?
-
How does the Policy setting affect the monetization? Do I have to select “monetize in all countries” in order for it to actually make money? What happens if I choose “monetize in all countries” but uncheck the “allow inVideo advertising” box?
So I’m totally lost–any help to clarify this would be much appreciated.
