Youtube problem.. Why oh why does it do this?

I can download files and load webpages at great normal cable speed. Great. Wonderful.

But youtube’s videos often just show me the little rotating circle “loading” thing and do NOTHING. No red line loading… nadda.

Sometimes (this used to work more often than not… now its more not) I’d open Opera or even shudder I.E. (I use Firefox as default).

Sometimes too other video that isn’t even from youtube doesn’t work… but this isn’t as common.

I also notice that very popular videos seem to load ok most of the time (you know, dog on skateboard and such) while videos I upload and only have 20 or 30 views are in the “don’t even try” catagory…

And some days for a short period of time (almost always under an hour and not at the same time each day) they all work fine, no problem.

This used to NEVER happen… all video would load just okie dokie.

Please, please, pretty please give me a hand?

Uh, any other technical stuff that might come in handy… I know jack about firewalls and such (I think there’s one on, its not on heavy protection), I use Vista, Charter Cable… umm… I think that’s about it.

I get this a lot as well on my work PC. It doesn’t come up blocked, and it works occasionally, but usually I just get that darn rotating circle. Embedded YouTube videos on other sites, though, usually work fine.

Sometimes I see a very brief fraction-of-a-second flash of a text redirect page when I try to watch a YouTube video - I’ve never managed to catch it to see what it says but I think it might be something about Javascript.

So maybe it’s a JS problem. I dunno…

I frequently have a similar problem with certain YouTube videos. They won’t play or YouTube says I need to upgrade my Flash player or something. If I temporarily disable my firewall and reload the page, all is fine. Not sure why this only happens sometimes.

:frowning: I don’t have my firewall on (I thought I did)… but I havn’t had any ill effects so far, I believe. So that isn’t the problem…
