I could care less about the video or who’s in it, but enjoy always enjoy watching someone beg for attention.

It’s not a national treasure. It doesn’t appear to have even gone viral, assuming its posted. I get your knee jerk opportunist notions, but now being coy by offering no resolve is just plain annoying.

Perhaps when she sold the rights, part of the agreement was that she’s now required to not publicize the vid or acknowledge her role in it in any way.
The new rights owners will do as they will with their new content. In fact it may already have long since been distributed to the public. They may even have publicly acknowledged the author under her real name or a different assumed name.
At which point we’d have no solid way to tie it back to our OP’s SDMB identity. Which clearly is one of her stated goals.

Meh. I’m not really buying it. I can’t name one person, besides Zapruder, who shot anything of note. Nor do I care. And I only remember the above because he became so famous by being the only one to get a clear shot of Kennedy getting shot.
I don’t even know the name of the person who caught the first 9/11 impact.
And this is supposedly footage of an actor doing something amusing? No one will care.

I do agree we’ve collectively invested far more effort in this than it deserves. This is post# 107 on the topic and there are now almost 10,000 thread views. If we assume every thread viewer read every post present at the time they viewed and that threadviews have been evenly distributed over the thread’s growing length, that’s something like 500,000 post readings. My assumptions probably overstate the actual number of post readings, but it’s still huge.
All in all I think we can say this is proof the SDMB is good at wasting people’s time. My own greatly included.

That Ian McKellen video was cringe-worthy. Something about the whole scenario just made me uncomfortable. Maybe it was that an accomplised actor is stooping to shouting internet meme references from windows at kids.

That Ian McKellen video was magnificent. It brought tears to my eyes to see a world-renowned actor willing to do something like that to make the day (at least) of a group of children. Clearly he was delighted at their reactions. Two thumbs way, way up.
Neither Ian McKellen nor Patrick Stewart has been knighted. McKellen is a CBE and Stewart OBE.
It’s possible our OP is using that term less than precisely.
