YouTube ? Right time & place, and I got it all on video

Probably. But you know, [del]pedantry[/del] fighting ignorance and all that.

Sure- but probably not reason to cross them off the candidates list!

Incorrect both times.

McKellen was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1991 and Stewart was knighted in 2010. As such, both men are entitled to be addressed as “Sir,” as in Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart.

Those articles (and you) are using the term incorrectly - though in a fairly common corruption. Neither has been knighted, because neither has been awarded the necessary rank.

You might want to read this. The GBE and KBE appear to be the only awards that convey the title of knight. But prior to RNATB’s post, I had always assumed that anyone who was entitled to be called “sir” had been knighted.

Nitpicks: the GBE and KBE are the only ranks in the Order of the British Empire that come with the title of knight. There are other orders (such as the Order of the Thistle and Order of the Garter) whose members may reach knight rank; the OBE is just the biggest.

Stewart and McKellen are Knights Bachelor. It is possible to be a Knight Bachelor and a junior member of an order of chivalry without being a knight of that order. Other Knights Bachelor are Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John. Regardless of their membership in lesser orders of chivalry, they are all considered knights.

I’m beginning to think this is too complicated for me. :smack:

Huh. You are correct. FUCK IT! IT’S AN UNNECESSARY VESTIGE OF A SYSTEM DESIGNED TO PRESERVE THE PRIVILEGES OF THE FEW ANYWAY.

But anyone is free to don a suit of armor, right?

Fun fact: Ian McKellen married Patrick Stewart last year.

To his third wife, Sunny. McKellen is an ordained minister.

Forgot all about this thread.

Are we allowed to know the video now that some time has passed?

You mean you didn’t see the clip all over the news. Let me give you a hint… “Cliven”

Is this like an anagram? Ok, lemme see, “Cliven”, Cliven, Cliven…

Ooh ooh I know, “Elvic n”.

Ok so “Elvic” is just a misspelled “Elvis” but with a “c” to throw people off. Now what could the “n” be? Going through my dictionary of “n” words the only one that makes any sense is napping.

So she got a video of Elvis napping? I mean that’s cool and all but not very exciting.

I discussed how to monetize a video in general terms via PM with the OP. Just a few days before this thread started I helped start another video on its way to going viral. That video has had more than 5 million views since then on YouTube and made a decent amount for the videographer.

The OP described the content of her video to me and I agree it had good potential for making some money assuming it is as described. However I have not seen the video.

No, the video could not possibly be duplicated exactly. You would have had to be there. I suppose it is possible that a similar event could occur again, but I’ve not seen such.

I don’t really care about that. I just want to see the video. I don’t get why you wouldn’t tell us about it here after you monetized it, as it would give you more views. That suggests the OP didn’t release it.

And now the zombie video has made a new round of Dopers curious and irritated. WTF is the video?

So, it’s been a couple of days. Has anyone seen the video?

More like a couple of years. Since this has gone well beyond GQ, anyone with additional information can start a new thread in Cafe Society or MPSIMS.
