Zicam

OK, so I have just seen a commercial for Zicam, the homeopathic remedy that allegedly cuts the duration and severity of the common cold by 75%, when taken at the onset of symptoms.

Now, given that this product is labeled homeopathic, which is as credible as claiming it is “magic”, how can we believe that this product honestly works as they says it does. Their website (www.zicam.com) claims there are studies published. Is “ENT Journal” a respected publication? Is the study that they quoted from there legitimate?

I searched the website, but I could find no reference to ingredients or dilution factor. This sort of thing makes me wonder if this product is labeled homeopathic to avoid clinical testing, since homeopathic remedies are not under FDA oversight.

Does anyone know anything about this product, its ingredients, or the nature of its testing?

I’ve heard that taking vitamin C at the onset of a cold is supposed to do the same thing. Maybe Zicam is just a citric acid solution.
