My buddy has a computer with DSL high-speed internet on it. He uses Zonealarm, and has a second computer networked to the main system for the purpose of sharing the internet.
The problem is, that when zonealarm is enabled on the host machine, the other system cannot access the net. No “alerts” come up on zonealarm as it tries, but the other machine still is prevented until zonealarm is disabled.
Does anyone know how to configure ZOnealarm to work with the second machine connecting?
Specicify which network card is the local one (click the advanced button in the security screen), then set local security to low. Set internet security to medium. Thats how mine is set up and it works fine.
I had the exact same problem, but it’s working great now.
Under Security, he should click on Advanced. Under the General tab, check the box that says “This computer is an internet gateway.” I think ZoneAlarm finds the IP address automatically.
If he still has problems, he might try uninstalling ZoneAlarm, getting the Internet Connection Sharing working right, then re-installing ZA. That way, ZA can sense the Internet connection sharing and set itself up properly.
