DelaWare?

How many of the teeming millions were born or now live in Delaware?

Hey there, Aceo! born in Wilmington, lived there and downstate (Milford). My mother’s family, including my Mom :), all live in Del., though I have lived in Maryland since 1979.

tarragon

I’m sorry to break this to you, but it is common knowledge that does not exist.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Delaware, that is.

Let me know the next time you need pointers on how to make a potentially funny response as lame as possible, OK?

sheeeeeesh.

Of course it doesn’t exist. I’ve been there!

Delaware, it’s a state

come on. we were america before anyone else. insted of the first state, you could call us the first american’s. i think this would greatly improve our popularty.

Who will admit from being from Southern Delaware, huh?

Born in Philadelphia, grew up in Media, moved to Delaware about five years ago. Proud to live east of the Mason-Dixon line.

Yes we are a haven for banks and corporations, and we are the reason they can jack up your interest rates. On the otherhand, no sales tax. And the intangible benefits of living in a state so small that everyone knows everyone somehow. Forget six degrees - we are talking one or two.

Another Delaware resident.

Born in CA, lived pretty much everywhere, live in Newark, same as epeepunk and hedra. Andygirl and Girlbysea live/lived downstate, IIRC.

Bow to Delaware in gratitude for your Roth IRA!
(Or failing that, your Purdue Chicken!)

Another Delawarean checking in. Have lived here most of my life. Don’t diss Delaware; we were a Final Jeopardy question once!

hay, welcome to the board:)

Thanks very much, aceospades! Very kind of you. Actually I’ve been lurking for a long time now, but when I say the name of my Beloved Home State mentioned, I couldn’t resist posting.

Well, as previously stated, I am a Delaware girl. And now that I have gotten back from Europe on study abroad (just came over today, actually) I am finally back in the land o’chickens.

My partner quietgirldownthehall and I are both Southern DE people- she goes to U of D.

Of course Delaware exists! It’s Connecticut.

I will.

I will also peg myself as to which part of Southern DE I am from by saying that around here we call it “slower lower” Delaware. (When we call it something. Which we usually don’t. And if you don’t live here the distinction is meaningless anyway- you can see the whole state and then have lunch.)

Born elsewhere, live in northern DE (with my hubby, epeepunk).

…anyone remember the Candid Camera bit where they told people driving into DE that the state was full, and they’d have to wait until someone drove out before they could go in?

My fave responses to the statement “I live in Delaware”

“Where is - oh, wait, that’s in Philadelphia, right?”

“Does duPont REALLY own the whole state?”

“I thought that was a river.” (um, yeah, and a state, too!)

Yay, Delaware, the only state where your license plate can be worth more than your car (lots more).
