Play Name that Tune with me again--- 1980's Edition.

I like playing name the song from the lyrics game, but I'm a dinosaur and am still living in the past. I wanna play Name That Tune with songs I have a possibility of actually naming.

So think back to the time of New Wave, post punk and funkadelica. Give me the artist, the title or more lyrics. Play with me!

Here's my list 'o lyrics:
  1. I got my cat moves
    That so upsets them
    Zippers and buttons
    Fun to frustrate them
  2. Yo, pretty ladies around the world
Got a weird thing to show you so tell all the boys and girls
Tell your brother, your sister and your mama too
'Cause we're about to go down and you know just what to do.
  3. Industry don't pay a price that's fair
All the common people breathing filthy air
Roof caved in on all the simple dreams
And to get ahead your heart starts pumping schemes.

  4. Philosophy is a walk on the slippery rocks
Religion is a light in the fog
I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean, oo yeah.
  5. I'll play along with the charade
There doesn't seem to be a reason to change
Y'know I feel so dirty when they start talkin' cute
I wanna tell her that I love her but the point is prob'ly moot

  6. The situations never change
    Tomorrow looks unsure
    Don't leave your destinated trains
    What are you waiting for?

2. Word Up, Cameo. Love this whole album. My car jammin' tape!

4. What I Am, Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians

5. Jesse's Girl, Rick Springfield

Now guess mine!

1. Get Thai'd! You're talking to a tourist
Whose every move's among the purest
I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine

2. The Mississippi Delta was shining
Like a National guitar
I am following the river
Down the highway
Through the cradle of the Civil War.

3. Here's a scene
You're in the back seat laying down
The windows wrap around
To sound of the travel and the engine

4. Those soft fuzzy sweaters
Too magical to touch.
To see her in that negligee was really just too much.

No Googling!

Fish42's #11 is a cinch -- The Police's "Don't Stand So Close to Me"

Forgot to leave lyrics ....

#12 -
Baby, Baby
What's your claim to fame?
Got me outta bed
When you call my name
What's this crazy place
Wanna take me to?

But they don't work no more
I loved you once
Don't love you anymore"

14)
"If you want to find a cop
They're all hanging out by the donut shop"

15)
"Not to put too fine a point on it
But if there's a bee in your bonnet"

16)
"We can go where we want to
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Then they're no friends of mine"

O.K. correction time.

My number 3 was not Jump. But it is the Pointer Sisters.

Now let's see if I can guess any--

cmkeller-- Wham's Careless Whisper.

Squish's #14 The Bangle's Walk Like an Egyptian.

Fish's #11 The Police Don't Stand So Close to Me. (I almost posted lyrics to this song in that Pit thread about looking at underaged girls.)

Also #3

Biggirl, your # 3 is indeed the Pointer Sisters - but the song is "Neutron Dance", not "Jump".

Here's another from me:

No, Fibonnaci got that one right. No one's guessed my #13:

Don't love you anymore"

I knew Max Carnage's--I love Dead or Alive!--but I missed it in his post.

O.K. I think these are all the unanswered ones:

9)In the deserts of Sudan and the gardens of Japan
From Milan to Yucatan, ev'ry woman, ev'ry man

13)We had some good machines
But they don't work no more
I loved you once
Don't love you anymore"

18)Love's the only thing that keeps me here
You're the reason that I'm hanging on
My heart's staying where my heart belongs

19)I know baby
It's hard to be strong
Just take the good with the bad
And don't think you're alone

Cause I know
All your sad goodbyes
Cause I've been there before
To help you dry your eyes

Two from me that bracket the decade:

28)
I try to play my music
They say my music's too loud
I kept talkin about it
I got the big run around
When I rolled with the punches
I got knocked on the ground
By all the bullshit goin' round.

29)
Ahwa, a place to stay
get your booty on the floor tonight
make my day.

and one extra, 'cause I like this song.

30)
You can see the summit but you can't reach it,
It's the last piece of the puzzle but you just can't make it fit,
Doctor says you're cured, but you still feel the pain,
Aspirations in the clouds, but your hopes go down the drain.

With all this bullshit going down
