80's music game.

I got this idea from a local radio station that started playing 80s rock 'all the time'. So, the jist of this thread is to deliver a line from a popular 80s song. Pretty much anyhthing that would have charted in the whole decade.

The next poster has to identify the song and the artist and then, of course, give their own line for the next guy to figure out.

Example;

Uncommon Sense: Blew out the speakers in her daddys radio.

Next guy: That would be ‘Shakin’’ by Eddie Money.
She had the sightless eyes, telling me no lies

Next guy after next guy: That would be ‘You shook my all night long’, by ACDC.

OK, those were easy…

Try not to google the line. Sites like lyrics.com are ok to use to verify that the line you want to use is the actual line. So that someone will not actually trot out ‘Excuse me while I kiss this guy’ or anything.

Feel free to offer up multiple lines (from different songs, max of four) in one post for the next people to guess.

Oh, and when you guess, try to come up with the original artist, not the second or third cover.

Uncommon Sense:

  1. Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams - blinded by me, you can’t see a thing.
  2. It’s more than a touch or a word we say only in dreams could it be this way
  3. May the good Lord be with you down every road you roam
  4. Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down - when they do I’ll be right behind you

(You only need to know at least one of those to play.)

alright, GO!!

Foreigner, “Waiting for a Girl Like You”

Tears for Fears, “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” (sorry, Roland Orzabal :D)

OK… here are mine…

  1. Don’t you look back on a big lost world…

  2. I’ll be your baby, I’ll be your score/ I’ll run the gun for you, and so much more…

  3. Every breath you take/Every cake you bake…

  4. What can I do? Pictures of you still make me cry…

Robin

UC1: Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams - blinded by me, you can’t see a thing

Master of Puppets - Metallica

MR2: I’ll be your baby, I’ll be your score/ I’ll run the gun for you, and so much more…

I’ll Tumble For Ya – not you, Robin, but Culture Club.

MR4: Every breath you take/Every cake you bake…

Not sure on this, but I think that’s Love Is the Seventh Wave by Sting.

TL1: Use the body, now you want my soul…
TL2: They say we’re crazy but I just don’t care…
TL3: I love you even if you think that I don’t…
TL4: I’m not so tough, but if you let me down…

I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do) by Hall & Oates.

I’ll just do 1 for now:
Look around/Grass is high/It’s the springtime of my life.

“All the Things She Said”, Simple Minds

“Hazy Shade of Winter” by the Bangles. It’s also a cover of song from the 60’s by Simon and Garfunkel.

Here’s mine:
NDP 1 - Income tax deduction/What a hell of a function.

Oops, forgot to post new entries!

Ril-1: D.C., San Antone and the Liberty town, Boston and Baton Rouge

Ril-2: We’re livin’ in a powder keg and givin’ off sparks

Ril-3: I bought a ticket to the world, but now I’ve come back again

Ril-4: He gave a quarter and his order, small fries, Big Mac

US3 : US3: May the good Lord be with you down every road you roam
[ul][li]Forever Young - Rod Stewart[/ul][/li]
NDP1 : Income tax deduction/What a hell of a function.
[ul][li]Bastards of Young – The Replacements[/ul][/li]
I won’t add anything, I’ll just recap the outstanding unnamed lyrics:

US1: Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams - blinded by me, you can’t see a thing.
MR3: Every breath you take/Every cake you bake… (Answered but unconfirmed)
MR4: What can I do? Pictures of you still make me cry…
TL2: They say we’re crazy but I just don’t care…
TL3: I love you even if you think that I don’t…
TL4: I’m not so tough, but if you let me down…

I shouldn’t, but goodness, Rilch and I simulposted and this is too good to pass up.

Ril-1: D.C., San Antone and the Liberty town, Boston and Baton Rouge
[ul][li]The Heart of Rock n’Roll - Huey Lewis & The News[/ul][/li]
Ril-2: We’re livin’ in a powder keg and givin’ off sparks
[ul][li]Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler[/ul][/li]
Ril-3: I bought a ticket to the world, but now I’ve come back again
[ul]True - Spandau Ballet[/ul]

:smack: I shouldn’t even try to compete in these things.

But Ril-4 is still open!

Well dang, there went my whole reason for entering this thread. :stuck_out_tongue:
Then again, I suppose it’s time I stopped being a one-note character anyhow. To that end:

You lift me up, like the sweetest cup I’d share with you.

You Be Illin’, Run-DMC

My lyric was from “Love is the Seventh Wave”.

Here are some new ones:

  1. Meet me in a restaurant/Meet me up on top of the world/Meet me and we’ll talk the language of love…

  2. Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to introduce the high-hat…

  3. There’s things that you guess, and things that you know/There are boys you can trust/and girls that you don’t…

  4. Face to face/My reflection in your eyes/I was scared to say too much…

Chew on these for a while. Note, they’re numbered 5-8 so as to avoid confusion with the earlier set.

Robin

  1. Nenah Cherry, Buffalo Stance? I dug her so I remember that one.

  2. Goerge Micheal, I want your sex. Not yours but hers. Or his.

This from one of my favs of the era;

US 5) I’d let you watch, I would invite you but the queens we use would not excite you

So that’s what she was screaming? I don’t ever think I knew those words.

You mean like “Hold me closer, Tony Danza”?

Is that from One Night in Bangkok?

I am impressed. It is Neneh Cherry’s “Buffalo Stance”. And George Michael’s “I Want Your Sex”.

Robin

Yes. Murray Head, from the Chess Broadway soundtrack

MR4: What can I do? Pictures of you still make me cry…

Damn! This is going to drive me nuts. It’s Styx! Do I get half a point?

DB1: Now who’s this Don Juan I been hearing of?

It’s NOT a soundtrack. It’s a “cast recording”!

Robin

Yes, Styx: “Don’t Let It End.”

TL3: I love you even if you think that I don’t…
Howard Jones: “What Is Love Anyway?”
“I met a strange lady/She made me nervous/She took me in and gave me breakfast.”
