I can name that pop tune in 10 words

I love “name that tune” threads even though I can never guess right once the kids start with the new stuff. But hope springs enternal and so. . …

The rules are to quote 10 words or less of a pop song. And that’s all the rules.

Here are few to start off.
[ol][li]We are far too young and clever. []I wanna peirce my tongue. It doesn’t hurt, it feels []I have sworn every time thoughts of you would leave []hear your name calling me out. Hey, looking at my clues this looks harder than I thought.

I can only answer the first one - ‘Come On Eileen’.

Will have to go and Google the rest now.

Throwing out a guess without Googling …

Is #7 “Manic Monday” by the Bangles?

  1. My Sharona … the only one I knew! They are hard Biggirl!

Number 6 is “My Sharona” by the Knack.

I’m lost on the rest, but here are a few more, just to keep things going:

  1. …running like a watercolor in the rain
  2. Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice
  3. Dark of the moon on the sixth of June…
  4. A fantabulous night to make romance
  5. With a word she can get what she came for

You’re right, Biggirl, this is kind of hard! I tried not to make my lines too hard, but they’re definitely not new stuff.

  1. Hotel California

  2. Stairway to Heaven.

Right so far
1.Come on Eileen
6. My Sharona.

is 11 Moondance?

Number 2 is “Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey Danger

  1. is Van Morrison. Moondance, I think.

It is indeed, Biggirl. Yours are still stumping me though.

Number 3 is "Red Red Wine " by UB40.

Barry

Let’s see…

Number 4 is “Smooith” by Santana, and nuber 5 is “Try Again” by Aaliyah.

Barry

10: “Convoy” by C.W. McCall

  1. “She said ‘I know you and you cannot sing.’”

So far we got–

  1. We are far too young and clever. Come On Eileen.
  2. I wanna peirce my tongue. It doesn’t hurt, it feels Flagpole Sitta
  3. I have sworn every time thoughts of you would leave Red Red Wine
  4. Such a dirty mind. Always get it up My Sharona
  5. A fantabulous night to make romance Moondance

Spoons, was Stairway to Heaven and Hotel California correct? (I’m almost sure Hotel California is).
Outstanding–
4. hear your name calling me out. Out from the barrio.
5. Tell all the boys or keep it low?
7. Can’t be too late, the boss is so demanding.
8. …running like a watercolor in the rain
10. Dark of the moon on the sixth of June…

I did preview, you people are too fast. godzillatemple is correct on 4 and 5. Can’t answer for Convoy, though.

Outstanding–
7. Can’t be too late, the boss is so demanding.
8. …running like a watercolor in the rain
10. Dark of the moon on the sixth of June…
13. “She said ‘I know you and you cannot sing.’”

13 is The Smiths- The Queen is dead (great song, btw)

How about “Never too much” by Luthor Vandross for number 7?

Barry

Fish42 got “Convoy” at number 10, and Caricci was correct with 9, “Hotel California;” and 12, “Stairway to Heaven.”

godzillatemple is again correct.

  1. …running like a watercolor in the rain
  2. Caught up in the conflict between his brain and his
  3. sings the songs that remind him of the good
  4. girls is on the way where the Bacardi at
  5. “I’ll be over at ten” you told me time and

Okay, here are a few more (Biggirl, I hope you don’t mind, but this is kind of fun). Again, it’s probably because I’m not up on today’s music that these are somewhat old:

  1. Just what the truth is, I can’t say anymore
  2. …makin’ love to his tonic and gin.
  3. Singing my life with his words
  4. Throw away the cars and the bars and the wars
  5. Look all around, there’s nothing but blue sky
  6. …give me no reasons, give me alibis
  7. If I had a day that I could give you

Is everybody still stumped on number 8 (“watercolor in the rain”)?
