Approximate Phonetic Chinese Version of “Happy Birthday”: (thanks, Nathan!)
“Guung juuk nay fook sow yuen teen tsai, hing hong nay sun sun fie lok. Leen leen doe yao gum yut, suuy doe yao gum jzew, guung hay nay! Guung hay nay!!!”
Approximate English Translation of Above:
“Congrats on this good day of fortune, where we can all gather together. Wishing you a very happy birthday. Every year, this wondrous day arrives; Always, this wondrous time comes. Congratulations! Congratulations!”
I wish you all continued happiness / health / fun / whatever you want for your birthdays and the new year. If you’re doing anything special (even if you’re not), please post it here. If your birthday is in January, but you didn’t post it in the original birthday list thread, post it here if you want. We’d definitely not like to leave anyone out!
It’s my birthday and I’ll be sick as hell on New Year’s Eve and not be able to go out if I want to!!! Or even if I don’t!!
Oh well, next NYE I’ll be in college and I’ll do 2 years’ worth of partying at once. So there!
Besides, I’m getting Aimee Mann tickets for my b-day, which will rock far more than anything I was going to be able to plan for tonight, when most everyone I know is out of town.
Oh, forgot to mention that this will be my 18th. Zoiks!
I’ll have to get myself a big fat cigar, then stroll in to a firearms dealer and make a few purchases. After that, I’ll take my armed and smoking ass to a strip club. I hear they charge less for lap dances when you’re waving pistols and chewing a cigar…
I’ll enter the last year of my 40s on the 23rd. When I was a kid. 49 seemed so old, but as I approach it, I don’t feel much different from the kid I was… well, except for the aches when I get out of bed and the multiple meds I take every night and the assorted surgical scars on my belly and the laugh lines around my eyes and the sad evidence of gravity when I look in the mirror. Nope, other than that, I feel just like a kid!!
