I think that Lekatt’s determined efforts to remain in ignorance and spread it despite and in spite of logic and facts, and his use of false personal anecdotes for what has been reported as over eight years is worthy of naming a bit of internet jargon after him.

No, I think that lekatt is the unit of measurement on the official scale of how far one has his head up his ass. This is not necessarily a measure of distance, but rather a measurement of the committment a person has to cramming the whole head up his ass. Much like the Richter scale, the lekatt scale is logarithmic, but the maximum value is 1 lekatt.
There are other examples of Lekatt’s lekattness/ lekattity besides Contact with the Great Trainwreck. If you’re really curious just perform a search for Lekatt’s name. You’ll find numerous examples. And there is his own web site.
So I guess this is just a general principles pitting.
I am serious about creating a term for this sort of behavior to commemorate his obdurate ignorance.
I’m gonna use it. If anyone asks me what the hell I’m talking about I’ll just cite this thread here in the Pit.
Alas no: That’s a lokatt (I must admit that I allowed myself some poetic licens when I translated it as weasel. The correct translation is stoat or ermine, but for some reason I thought that weasel had a better sound to it).

SimonX I think your definition needs to include an element of self-delusion bordering on mental illness.
There are many on these boards and in life who have very strong beliefs for which they have not much evidence, and who are quite determined to maintain those beliefs come what may. But Lekatt goes beyond that. There is something pitiful (as opposed to Pit-able) about Lekatt, when he will obdurately maintain a falsity when that falsity is so obvious that observers are left wondering about Lekatt’s sanity.

Any definition should include a reason why this is a typical Lekatt sign-off:
Perhaps “to lekatt” should include “irrational dreamer with eyes shut and fingers stuck firmly in ears”?
