That’s a really tough question, Q.E.D.. On the one hand, trains have really been important in the building of the US. On the other, Amtrak has been mismanaged for quite a number of years, even before the federal government took it over. It’s a sad thing to think of, but it looks like transporting paying passengers over rails will probably die out if the government doesn’t keep pouring money into the system. And, with the recent dip in the economy, that might be one of the things cut.
