What theme would you like to see next on American Idol?

I'd like to see a Beatles night. Beatles songs are great pop/rock songs with great melodies, and there's a lot to choose from. I'd like to see Ruben sing "Strawberry Fields" or "Something." I think Clay would do pretty good on "Lady Madonna" or "Ob La Di Ob La Da."

Or maybe a Rat Pack night. "Volare" would be a good song for Ruben. And I'd like to hear Kim sing "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You."

In another American Idol thread somebody mentioned having a night of Elton John songs, which I think would also be good.

Or maybe put Clay in his element with a Broadway night.

Or go way out on a limb and do an evening of gospel/hymns?

Broadway night is a good idea (I'd do "Life is a Cabaret"). Elvis night ("Are You Lonesome Tonight"). Carol King night ("Will You Still Love me Tomorrow").

I was going to say Beatles night too.

I loved the 60's theme, maybe a 70's theme would be fun as well. I like the old stuff.

A Beatles or an Elvis Night would be great, but I have a suspicion there's a copyright issue or else they'd have done it by now. They didn't pick Neil Sedaka over Elvis because they thought Sedaka would get more viewers.

How about

Weird Al Yankovic;s Original Compositions Night, with
Ruben - "Gonna Buy Me A Condo"
Clay - "One More Minute"
Trenyce - "I Remember Larry"
Josh - "The Night Santa Went Crazy"
Kim - "Good Enough For Now"

Or

Concept Metal Album Night with selections from Queensryche's "I Dream In Infrared"

Or

Metallica Night followed by a lawsuit from the RIAA?

Or

Commercial Jingle Night

CLAY: (Singing) Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun!

RANDY: Yo dog, yo, wassup. It wuz a'right, a'right, you did yo thing.

PAULA: It was wonderful. I want a hamburger now. Christ, I'm so drunk.

GUEST JUDGE: Robble robble robble!

SIMON: I hate hamburgers. I could have heard that in any McDonald's.

Or

Gangsta Rap night like Fingolfin says, with the twist that the person voted off is actually shot.

How about a [b]Journey[/i] night. Plenty of songs with strong vocals to choose from.

Have they already done Burt Bacarach? Did they do that last season?

[b]Neil Diamond[/i] night would rock!

I'd like to see a hard rock/heavy metal night with Ozzy as the guest judge.

An Elton John night would also be good, and hopefully Elton would be an honest critic.

A Prince night would be interesting as well, and who knows how weird the purple one might be as a judge?

I was hoping they would bring back the Big Band Orchestra like they did last year, I really enjoyed that.

How about alternative/grunge night? Some Alice in Chains and Liz Phair would perk up the show!

Actually, I think a KISS theme would be cool. I wanna see Clay in Gene Simmons face paint belting out the KISS hits. Maybe give him a prosthetic tongue.

Italian Opera night would certainly be interesting.

The Swiss Yodel competition would also be another ratings booster.

But it is FOX, so most likely they will have them sing songs from Kelly Clarkson's new album.

Dang, I misread the subject to think you wanted to change the type of entertainment:

American Stripper, yeah baby!

OK. Khoomi: Mongolian two-toned throat singing.

I second that. It wasn't until Kelly sang "Stuff Like That There" that I understood/realized her potential.
