American Idol Final Six Show(and my ranking of the talent)

Only Trenyce and Clay picked the correct song to resing. I was surprised Ruben chose the song he did, but he came off quite good anyway.

Carmen solidified that she’s the least talented.

Here is my order on the overall talent of the group, with comments.

1. Ruben Studdard- He’s the winner, plain and simple. I hope they put together a good album for him.

2. Clay Aiken- If this guy finds the right genre, he could be quite good.

3. Kimberly Locke- She is the rising star of the group, having gotten better and better each week. I would love for her to come in second place.

4. Trenyce- Very hit and miss. She wants to be Whitney Houston, but needs work before she is that talented.

5. Josh Gracin- This guy wouldn’t even win Nashville Stars, let alone trying to win American Idol with a Country style.

6. Carmen Rasmussen- Her tight jeans are the only thing that has gotten her this far.

I woke up from a nap at 8 and turned on Fox just as they were singing the final song. My first thought was, “I missed it again??” but then I realized today is Monday so I told Fox to go to hell. Then I watched Mr. Personality.

I can’t pick between Clay and Ruben mostly because Ruben and I don’t share the same tastes in music. I can recognize that he has a pile of talent but simply because I haven’t liked any song he’s sang, I can’t put him first outright.

I’ll be sorry to see Carmen go, she’s so darn cute and takes the negative remarks the judges give her with class. It’s also nice to see that she actually has acne (albeit not a lot). I’m tired of seeing teens on TV with perfectly clean complections.

This extra show was harmless. I enjoyed seeing the “historical” clips of each contestant; they’ve all come a long way. Clay’s first shots were hysterical with those teensy little glasses and total gawkiness. I thought Ryan Seacrest did a good job of gluing the thing together without Randy, Paula and Simon to work off of.

I really like Trenyce and Rueben. I Also really like Clay, but he TOTALLY reminds me of Barry Manilow for some reason or another.

I WANT to like Carmen, because she seems like a really nice person. I even think her voice is above average, I just think she’s probably the least talented at the moment.

The truth is finally revealed. Tonight’s theme is in fact Diane Warren night with Diane Warren as guest judge. This has been confirmed by TV Guide and USA Today.

And they link to the tvguide site at http://www.tvguide.com/newsgossip/inthenews/030422.asp#C , which does, in fact, appear to confirm it…

My ranking;
1.) Ruben (of course)

2.) Broadway Clay. I like his voice a lot and he could make a great album with the right material.

3.) Kim L. Great chops, very professional. I think she’ll make a living with her voice no matter what happens with AI.

4.) Trenyce. She has good raw talent but she needs polish and she needs to find a personal style. She has a lot of upside but she’s not quite there yet.

5.) Josh. Should be fronting a country/western cover band on a Marine Corps base somewhere. He’s an adequate singer but he has no star quality and he’s not a very interesting interpreter of music. Makes me cringe when he goes into the audience.

Carmen. Always looks and sings like she’s competing in a local beauty pagent. Annoyingly cute, amateur singer at best. With any luck she’ll end up doing porno movies.
