can someone explain to me the meaning of the Cat stevens song "longer boats"?

I've never heard the song before, but I found the lyrics (hopefully those are correct) so that others who haven't heard the song either can read them and make some attempts at interpretation. Personally, I don't really know. Just make it mean something for yourself, I guess.

Looks like someone just got a Cat Stevens CD.
IIRC, Stevens said it had something to do with UFOs. Looking at the lyrics, that seems to fit with the final verse.
