What do you like about yourself?

Too much negativity - time for something positive. It's not "how screwed up are you" or "what's your hangups?" It's time to find something you like about yourself.

There's a list of things I don't like about myself, some changable, some not. But, things I like about me (in no particular order):
  • I'm tall
  • I can sing - I sing in the church choir & have done some minor roles in local musicals.
  • I'm a good father and a pretty-good husband.
  • I'm good at my job and, I think, decently respected by my coworkers.
  • I'm decently smart - probably not national merit scholar smart but probably brighter than the average person.

There's more but it's a good starter list. What do you like about yourself?

Me, too, twickster. I crack myself up. I plan to rely on my wicked sense of humor when my spectacular rack eventually succumbs to gravity.

I've got a great sense of style (black hosiery with white shoes? check!). I also speaks real well.

Definitely a wicked sense of humor there! Cracked me up!

As for me, um:

I like my natural hair color.
I'm a pretty good problem-solver - not like Dear Abby, but like "Why the heck isn't this thing working???" problems.
I multi-task well.
I've become more outgoing and less self-conscious in my old age!

I'm a better mom than my mom was to me.

Our child is our top priority in life (my partner and I).

I am good at the nose-roll in quarters.

I'm very relaxed in the classroom (I'm a teacher).

That's about all I have at present.
It's not a particularly great day.

I am a good public speaker.

I'm particularly proud of this because I used to prefer intense physical pain to speaking in front of a group of people. But, in my job, I have to give speeches frequently, so I did it often enough I got comfortable. Then I got good. Then I got really good. Now, I'm a total attention-grabbing ham!

I get along with everyone
I've got a clear, deepish voice and good speaking ability
I remember names, faces and telephone numbers very easily
Quite laid back
Sense of style (although it does get annoying sometimes)

Now that was awkward.

  • I am tall (and not gangly. I have some weight)
  • I can solve just about any technical problem at work
  • My boss said I was the most intellectual person in the company
  • I have incredibly good close-vision
  • I am polite and kind to everyone, even people I despise.
  • I make computer shop employees nervous (by knowing what I am talking about)
  • I possess a kind of coolness that I admire - When other people are getting excited/hyper about something, I am remaining poker-faced. (althought this can cause problems when people are trying to make me laugh - I can find something funny, but not react to it. I often have to force a smile)

Second time better be a charm. My first post to this thread was hamster chow.

Ready for a shocker? I really love to cook and do it pretty d@mn well. Playing a dozen different musical instruments and being a natural bass is a pleasure. Composing songs and writing lyrics is just as enjoyable. There are few antiques anyone can place before me whose function and approximate price I am unable to guess. This helps my collecting adventures a lot. A sharp eye for decor assists my photography skills very nicely too. Being well read makes for better than average conversation, especially about world events. A smattering of several languages helps to get along with people from all over the world. The cooking and language ability is a big plus when ordering in restaurants. Lots better service when you know the argot.

Knowing how to wrench on a car and build houses is sure handy. A good knowledge of electronics and programming makes consumer electronics and computers a lot less intimidating. An ability to draw well plus analyse artwork of any sort frequently ends up with gallery staff asking about my training. Background in biology and botany makes nature walks fun and food shopping a lot easier. Fast reflexes contribute to a good driving record and fewer accidents around the house.

Most of all, an ability to remain young at heart makes for lots more fun when playing with children and animals. This is one of the most uplifting experiences of all.

What do I like about myself? Mostly everything

Sure, some things can be improved, like getting a killer ab, having more money, learning more, etc.

Hm, my best part seems to be I am optimistic.

I make great peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches.

My kids adore me, as they should.

I have an excellent ability to come through in a clutch situation with a very funny line. It's a gift, really.

I do not panic and am not a drama queen. ( However, I am an attention whore and I am totally ok with this.)

I am very funny. Not bragging. Just stating facts.

I am great at funerals and hospital bedside visits.

I am a gut writor.

What I like best as I have gotten older how more confident and secure I have become and how instead of being the total pessimist in life, how I have trained my brain to turn it into a positive thing. Not like Jack Handy, but you get the idea.

Hmmm...no one's ever asked me this question before.

*thinking*

-- I'm tall (5'10")

-- I'm pretty damn clever/funny when the muse strikes

-- I can put people at ease

-- I make a damn good margarita

-- I'm usually very optimistic (almost insanely so)

-- I can engineer good hair days (good things come to those who blowdry)

-- I'm a good listener (people are always asking me for advice)

-- I have pretty eyes, so they say (and naturally curly eyelashes)

-- I'm a good photographer and a better writer

-- I give great birthday gifts

-- I don't take any shit, but I don't start any either

*pauses*

Wow, I didn't know I liked so many things about myself. Who knew. (It's so much easier to focus on the things that bug me.)

And I just realized that only a couple of those things can be taken away from me with time. The rest will just improve as I get older.

I like this thread idea, Belrix. I feel better already. Good stuff!

I'm a very loving person. But at the same time, I'm very adaptable, and can adjust that personality to fit a certain situation. In other words, I'm a bit of chameleon when it's necessary.

Compassionate. I work in the health-care field, but I don't have to work at being compassionate. I really like that about me.

I can be a friend. I know how to be a friend, because growing up I knew what it was to be friend-less.

I'm always negative but I'll try to be positive here.

a) My dimples. I have these deep, crater dimples on my creeks.

b) I ride, train and show horses...I also rescued abused horses.

c) I'm loyal. Once you earn my trust, you have a friend for life and I'm trustworthy.

d) I'm unique.

I support the HSUSA with regular donations, as well as Ronald McDonald house with regular donations.

My cats love me.

I'm a pretty decent neighbor...we're forever borrowing stuff from each other and hanging out at each other's houses.

I'm pretty well-read.

Hmm.. I've been doing far too much self-loathing lately.. time for a change. (no matter how hard it may be)
  • I read a lot.
  • I remember everyone's birthdays. (well, almost everyone's.. sorta..)
  • I try to listen and be helpful to my friends who are experiencing problems.
  • I'm young at heart.. which is a good thing coz of all the kids I know!
  • I'm pretty much easygoing most of the time, except when you've wronged me or someone I love.. then I get nasty.
  • I'm polite and kind to people.
  • I have a fairly good vocabulary.
  • I can make friends fairly easily, and keep them too.
  • Kids love me.. they hug me, make up nicknames for me, want to talk to me, want to be carried by me, etc.

Gee, this feels better already! Wow.. great thread idea, Belrix!

What I like most about myself is that I can find my sense of humour in almost any horrible situation and make those who are suffering laugh.

I can also cook my ass off, have a nice rack, and my dog adores me.

*I am a good mother.
*I have a great sense of humor---even am able to laugh at myself most of the time.
*I am generous with my time and my sympathetic ear.
*I am not at all high maintenence---a simple kind word or gesture from someone can carry me through for a long time.
*I am slow to anger and when I do get upset, I try never to take it out on the wrong person---not the type to come home and kick the dog if it's the boss I'm sore at.
*I smile a lot
