For the love of god, please spoil Gattaca for me

The only reason I am still awake is because I got caught up in this stupid movie. The nitwits at KSTP-5 decided to stop the movie right when Vincent/Jerome was confronting his brother and air that stupid Cheaters show, of all things. I am pissed. PISSED. Fuckers.

Anyhow. If someone could tell me what happens next I’d really appreciate it.

They repeat their childhood contest of swimming out until one turns back. Vincent finally wins, and saves his brother from drowning. His brother asks how it is possible, and Vincent says he never saved anything for the return trip.

The doctor tells Vincent his son is a natural, and that Vincent is an inspiration to him. When asked how the doctor knew, he replies “lefties don’t shake with their right hand when giving a sample.”

Vincent gets to go on the trip. Before he leaves, Jerome shows that he has stocked indefinate time worth of samples for him and gives him a letter to be read after launch.

Vincent in space opens letter to find a goodly supply of hair samples and realizes Jerome is going to kill himself.

Final scene, Jerome suicides hardcore-style by putting himself in incinerator.

Haven’t scene movie in many years…I may have mixed up Vincent/Jeromes’s names. Let me know if you have any other story holes you need filled, I can’t remember exactly the order of events.

lol, “haven’t scene…”. That’s funny. It must be late.

Shit, forgot main plot. Turns out the director killed whomever it was that was murdered. He confessed, and was led away, after the launch was set and couldn’t be interrupted.

whew

Thank you!

But…the freakin’ incinerator? Yikes!

Did they ever say who killed the dead guy and why?

I really think you should rent it and watch it to the end - it’s something you need to see to properly appreciate. However if you can’t wait for that, here ya go.
The Doctor knows that Vincent is a fraud, but because his own child is “less than perfect” he keeps the secret and lets Vincent go into space.

Jerome stocks up a lifetime supply of his own genetic material (for Vincent) before putting himself in the incinerator.
Ah damn, look what happens when you stop to take a phone call before pressing “submit”. Sigh.

lol, takes a while to do that spoiler thing, eh?

The “why” is 'cause the guy killed was trying to delay the program, which would’ve meant the director wouldn’t see the launch in his lifetime.
